Make Joseph Kony Famous to Raise Support
-
Scarlet_BuckeyeThis is a really well done documentary type video. Very powerful. It’s 29 mins long so only watch when you have the time<o></o>

The KONY 2012 is a film and campaign by Invisible Children that aims to make Joseph Kony famous, not to celebrate him, but to raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.

krambmanIf you haven't seen the original Invisible Children film, you need to see it to see the full story of what is happening in Uganda. If I can find it somewhere online today, I'll post it.

Had to watch that shit in High School..you know it's bad when your teacher says you get to watch a video in class and you hate it. -
Pick6I find it odd that the night where everybody is supposed to cover the streets in Kony also happens to be 4/20..

The question is, if you use government resources to get Kony, then what? Do you continue going afters? Because it won't stop there. Hell, even the Ugandan army is accused of doing this. Just like everything else...is it our government's responsibility to take care of this? Or is it a people thing?mcburg93;1108801 wrote:This stuff has been going on for years over there. Point is, even if we do step in, how far do we go? Getting rid of 1 guy isn't going to fix the problem.Gblock;1108816 wrote:no they dont have any oil or resources we need...when they do we will step in -
2quik4uThis is a money grab by a shady non-profit which gives only 31% of its proceeds to the actual cause

To be fair, their mission is more "awareness" than "action" as I understand it. They spend a crap ton of money traveling around the country and playing the film places. The % of their money that goes to their programs is inline with most NPOs, it's just that their programs aren't focused on providing direct aid.2quik4u;1108823 wrote:This is a money grab by a shady non-profit which gives only 31% of its proceeds to the actual cause

That said, it's treating a symptom (albeit a bad one) by feeding another (the Ugandan government).
And finally...
