Do you actually have any reason to believe that, or are you just talking out your ass to make the people that disagree with you seem like bad human beings while you come off as a white knight.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1112352 wrote:I give these guys credit for raising awareness on the LRA. So friggin'what if the conflict isnt as violent as it was in 2003; it is still going. I have heard several foreign policy experts say that this video has done nothing but good even if it only raises awareness. But of course, cynics who are experts in all subjects according to themselves have to knock it. I doubt any of those same cynics have ever done a thing to help the world in any way. They just wait for someone to put themselves out there for a cause, then the do a quick Google search to find stuff that contradicts or criticizes said risk taker.
That's bush league you baby boys living in your mother's basement.

I'm no white night and I never claimed to be. It has been my experience that people who always criticize generally are not heavily invested in causes or campaigns. They would rather point out the failings of others than take any risks themselves. That is what I based that opinion on.Mooney44Cards;1112631 wrote:Do you actually have any reason to believe that, or are you just talking out your ass to make the people that disagree with you seem like bad human beings while you come off as a white knight.

I understand that the campaign against Kony is somewhat MTV'ish and has an element of pop culture's flavor of the week. That said, at least these people are trying to make a difference. Is it perfect? I'm sure not. But if using the web to make their cause known to others is working to bring more attention to a criminal, then I can't knock that.
My point is that it's a lot easier to always poke holes in tomsething than to actually try to contribute something. I think it's sad that when someone does try to do something good, there are always people there ready to point out the flaws and shortcomings immediately. -
Mooney44CardsOh so when a good cause comes up, nobody is allowed to criticize it or they are just some low life troll who's never done anything good in their whole life. Let's always accept things as they're fed to us without anyone criticizing it or questioning its validity or merit. Devils advocates have a very distinct and entirely useful role in society. Sorry everyone just doesn't jump on every band wagon of every good cause ever.
No one is defending Joseph Kony, so what do you care? It seems you don't so much care that they disagree on something, it's that they vocalize it. So if I have a different opinion than the Facebook groupthink this week, I'm supposed to shut up and be a good boy and let you guys intellectually jerk each other off? Sorry that it bothers you. #firstworldproblems -

The flavor of the week thing is so true. It was huge last week, but the jokes posted here are all I see about it now.Mooney44Cards;1113644 wrote:Oh so when a good cause comes up, nobody is allowed to criticize it or they are just some low life troll who's never done anything good in their whole life. It's kind of off topic, but don't be surprised if South Park somehow spoofs this in it's upcoming season in some way. -

Midstate01Haven't read this whole thread. But I think the US should not get involved. The guy deserves to die or be arrested. But it's not in our interest to go there. Sure the video is great,.. And all Americans are sickened watching it. Saying go over there and get him. ALL that would change as soon as American soldiers start being killed. Then they'd turn around and say, why are we there!! Not as big, but sounds a little like Vietnam. Uganda has sooo many problems. This guy is one of them, but going there could open up a new can of worms.

100 troops doing strictly intelligence doesn't really count. I mean sending mass amounts of troops there for force. -
