What is the worst thing you have found in your food from restaurants?

    SPeaking of bandaid in food.

IN HS we asked our Chemistry teacher why he packed every day at school for lunch. He had taught there like 20 years at the time.He said in his first year of teaching he was eating a butter bread at lunch and something was chewy.

He spit it out..and it was a used band aid. So....packing he did the rest of his life as a teacher! That would be nasty to see one...even worse to put it in mouth

If it were my place, he would be leaving the place immediately, either on his own or with assistance. His choice.

I agreed with nearly everything else in the post, but this crossed a line.

I wouldn't cause a scene but when I was told that if I didn't pay that the waitress would be charged for the bill I would have been on the phone with their corp office right then! How the hell is the server responsible for something in the food from the kitchen? Any former or current servers out there ever had to pay for a customers bill due to something like this or even a dine and dash?

    Doubt it.

Why? This isn't some internet tough-guy crap. If I'm running a retail place of business, and someone makes a scene (with no regard as to the legitimacy of their complaint), they are leaving the business. Immediately. There's no reason a business has to tolerate such conduct.

Dine and dash is ALWAYS considered the server's fault/problem.

Every single restaurant I worked in or knew people that worked in, if someone dined and dashed the server had 2 choices only, pay for it out of their own tips or get written up.

I did get out of one once however. The manager had decided to send everyone else in smoking home early and I had smoking by myself. I had 15 tables at once, and did a darn good job of containing the chaos with help from the other servers (food running, etc).

I made out like a bandit that night in general, but did have one young couple dine and dash. The manager tried to give me the option of pay for it or get written up.

I looked right at him, and said comp the ticket or I quit, it was your fault for sending everyone home. He balked at first and was going to write me up, so I told him to find someone to work tomorrow because I wouldn't be in.

    He comped the ticket.

at steak and shake it's the managers responsibility to make sure all customers pay. Comes out of their bonus. Course, they pay at the front.

The only thing I've really found is a hair. Nothing too dramatic.

However, a good friend's wife was at one of the two Mexican restaurants in town and was eating a beef burrito. About her third cut in and a dead cricket came tumbling out. My friend couldn't eat his food, she obviously didn't eat hers and all they said was that they'd replace the meal with a new one. He paid and walked out.

    I don't remember where-but found a band-aid in potatoes once.

It seems service isn't what it used to be. One time my son and I stopped at Pizza Hut on Lane Ave. after an OSU game. They were real busy. When our pizza came it was the wrong toppings. I thought maybe they just mixed ours up with someone else's so I said it was wrong. The waitress apologized, gave us that pizza and made the right one and we didn't pay for either one. They also gave us a coupon for another pizza on our next visit. I thought that was pretty good.

Worst I ever had was at the same place. Twice. 6 months apart on two subsequent visits. Rally's in Lima...now closed, it had a hair in the burger with bar b q sauce and onion ring on it. Disgusted..I didnt go back for 6 months..and ANOTHER hair was in the exact same sandwich!

fortfan..that sounds good job by them. Shit happens at places..it is how they all react to it. I have been eating wings at a certain place in town for over half my life. About a year ago we got a few orders to go that were very, very bad. Told the owner whom I know that we ordered 3 orders, got maybe two, and they were SMALL as could be, with no sauce on it. He got to the bottom of it...and gave us like 5 orders worth of wings free. take care of your customers...and they will keep coming back. Dont take care of them and they will bad mouth ya to people.

Maybe it was the secret ingredient.

If I were the OP, I would wait outside the place until the manager got off work and kneecap him. That arrogant little fuck needs to learn the customer is always right.

I used to work with a lady who found a tooth in her food! Her husband made a huge deal about it, was really loud and a jerk to the manager. When they got out to the car she noticed that she was missing a tooth. Lol, she didn't even realize it was her own tooth?!? And then she wasn't smart enough to not tell everyone where we worked.

When I served I ad a couple dine and dashes. Our manager always just watched our security camera made sure you were attentive and then comped the ticket.

My favorite story from serving happened on a busy Saturday night. Our place was jam packed. It was the middle of the summer and a band was playing on the outside patio. A table that was out there (young man and woman) get up from their table walk to the front and steal a Eddie George autographed framed phone. The dude just walked right out the door with it to his car. Comes back in goes to his table and 10 minutes later the girl gets up and gets another picture off the wall and walks out. She comes in they finish their meal then dine and dash. So they ditched like a 90$ tab and stole two framed pictures. Like 2 minutes after they leave a table who watched it all happen asked the host if those people had bought those pictures. Our managers couldn't believe it as we watched the tape. Luckily a girl who worked their recognized them from her high school and got her old yearbook and got their names. They were arrested about a week later.

Another good story... We had a couple drinking at the bar during a buckeye football game. The people looked like complete white trash. Well when they go outside to smoke our bartender asked if they could pay or leave their card. She kinda got rude with him saying no one else had to do that why did she. So they sit for like another 15 minutes then go smoke. Before she left to go outside she throws a 100 on the bar. When she comes in she screaming where my money. She starts screaming so the whole place can hear that the bartender stole her money. At this point the bartender is pissed and says let's go watch the security tape I. The office. The whole way up to the office the lady is yelling and jumping with her arms in the air pointing at the bartender saying he stole my money. They watch the tape and sure enough she had sit down a 100$ but when she turns her bf picks it up and puts it in his pocket. She then started apologizing and trying to come on to the manager and bartender.

About the dine and dash......you all who work in that industry do you think it is more to do with a customer just having to wait too long, or be pissed at their meal and such, or someone who just was planning on doing such a thing?

Personally I have never done it nor would I even think about doing it. I have left cash on the table with the bill before and left if something was taking way toooo long, but why risk the rap for just a meal?

Mostly just people who are idiots. Young kids who think it is funny or something like that.

9 out of 10 times I saw it, it was young kids from 16-24 ish.

thavoice I think a dine and dash is planned ahead of time IMO.

The restaurant did all they needed to do by comping your meal.

Co-worker found a condom in her container of fried riced from Chinese place in Worthington several years ago. She and the manager had had a "conversation" about a badly screwed-up takeout order a couple of weeks before - she figured that he put in in the rice to get even.

Found a zip tie in a salad from Red Lobster once, We got our entire bill plus Desert free

Btw toothpicks are sometimes in salads bc they are used to mark the salad as specked out like if it's a Cobb salad with no egg. The food runner probably just didn't see it or it had gotten pushed down in the salad.

If people knew half of what goes on inside of some of the kitchens in restaurants you would never eat out again.

Like the guy who was caught putting in his own "special sauce" additive to the tartar sauce at Frisch's. Of course who knows how many times he did it before actually getting caught.

A local guy years ago who owned a bar once reported he found a needle in his pepsi can. It was when that was going on around the country.

He was found to be lieing, but dont know what ended up happening. The place he owned has since closed and has been demolished into a parking lot.

Sounds like he was looking for a payday.
