P90X THREAD

How is it going for those that are doing this workout?

Round two week three for me.

My brother and I have tweaked it a little this time around but are staying close to the original as we can.

My goal this time around is to get down to 200.
    I started at 273 (245) on the p90x.
I lost the first 28 on my own by giving up fast food and a few other things.

Still rocking it for a year now! Absolutley one of the best all around workout programs ever.

I've been wanting to try it for a while now but just need the money to get started. I am also pretty out of shape so that makes me a little nervous but I think I could do okay. If I ever start I will let you guys know how I fare.

Excited to start this...my cousin who just moved into my basement has it and we are starting it in two weeks...post flag football season lol

It works, it's deff. worth it. It does take a strong commitment to nutrition and the workout plan but if you can mentally get through it your body will change will be remarkable.

Re-starting the series again today, took about a month off due to a back injury that left me unable to lift or jump much. I'll again be modifying the program to fit my needs. Chest and back begins in less than an hour. I hope to keep posting on here to stay accountable to myself. Push play, do your best and forget the rest.

The leg workout is today and we are tweaking it so that we can do all of the leg exercises at the gym and add a power lift or two to the workout.

I will follow the workout by hitting the sauna for 1 hour.

Wife and I have been trying to do it, but it’s really tough to find the time…I know, I know, don’t watch as much TV, etc, etc…

I’ve been doing Ab Ripper X at least 3 times per week for about 2 months now…I’m a skinny dude (6’ 160lb), so I’m doing it more to keep in shape and to be doing at least SOMETHING, and my 6 pack was fading. I’ve noticed a difference in my stomach, took 4-6 week I would say to notice a change….

I have a hell of a time getting up at 6:30am to do it, I leave for work between 7:15 and 7:45am, get home between 5:30 – 6:00pm, done with dinner around 7:00pm, then watch a few hours of TV (lately play Modern Warfare 2 until midnight), then repeat the next day.

Hopefully the winter months will motivate me to take some more time to do a wider variety of the exercises available….

Going to start up again in January..still maintaining my weight and the nutrition end is still good. Looking forward to get back at it! :)

Thinking about beginning this program. What do you get for the money? Just the DVD's? If so are there other things you need to buy to go with it? thanks,
  • WebFire
You get all the DVD's plus the nutrition and workout guides, which are very helpful.

I did this last spring for about 6 weeks. I lost about 21 lbs and was feeling great! But the early mornings started catching up to me and I got burnt out, on the workouts and the nutrition. I fell off the bandwagon and have since gained it all back. :(

I want to start in again, but will modify it for my pace, and hope I don't burn out. Right now I need the motivation to get up before work to work out.

Thanks for the info. Is there many things i would need to buy to go along with the workouts? For example i saw in a review something about chin ups so i would obviously need a bar for that, just wondering how many extras you need?
  • vdubb96
^^^^ Dumbbells, resistance bands or pull up bar. Thats basically it. If anyone doesn't want to drop the $100 + for P90X there is always the P90X plus program which is around $50 or the Tony Horton One on One dvd's which are $15 a piece. All are extremely good ( i have them all).

As someone looking into getting into a structured workout program and not just showing up at the gym to bench and do curls, what all is this about? Does it say what times of the day you need to do the workouts or what? As a full time college student time for me is at a premium and sometimes hard to make room to workout. However, I am looking at losing weight and I have always been curious about this program. Any help would be appreciated.
  • WebFire
No, there is no mention of what time of day to do the workouts. This was debated quite a bit in the thread at JJHuddle.

You will, however, need to dedicate an hour each day, and 1 day an hour and a half, 6 days per week.
  • WebFire
    Love your sig, Darby.
  • vdubb96
An hour a day is correct, however if you would go to P90X plus or One on One's the time is drastically shorter and the workouts just as intense.
  • WebFire
Also, when you get comfortable with the workouts you can forgo the DVD on many of them and shave the time almost in half.
  • osudarby08
Thanks for the advice, an hour a day is very doable. Now if only I had the money to purchase it. Maybe I can find a torrent on the internet somewhere.

    For sure!
