I still use the DVD's but time can be cut off dramatically.WebFire wrote: Also, when you get comfortable with the workouts you can forgo the DVD on many of them and shave the time almost in half.
Shoulder and arms ends up being 45 minutes with a super set of curls
Chest and back ends up being 45 minutes also, hard to cut time when you need to max rest between the sets.
I have found a modified yoga that works well for me, 45 minutes there. -

Scratch that...Sonofanump wrote: Re-starting the series again today, took about a month off due to a back injury that left me unable to lift or jump much. I'll again be modifying the program to fit my needs. Chest and back begins in less than an hour. I hope to keep posting on here to stay accountable to myself. Push play, do your best and forget the rest.
P69modified Tri training. I will be competing in an indoor tri in 69 days. I’ll be re-starting this to get me back on track. Chest and back day one completed, 226 push ups with weighted vest. Tomorrow is yoga and basketball league. Goal is to get down 16 lbs, 21 lbs from ideal weight, but need to get at least 12 lbs off by the triathlon. Weight is secondary, to overall health. But it is the easiest way to measure success besides what size pants one wears. -
vdubb96^^^Good luck bro!!! If any program can get you into amazing shape quick this is it!
-
Salmom^ what he said!

newarkcatholicfanKenpo plus was yesterday and it was a butt kicker being it was the first time adding this to the program for my brother and I.

I need to get Kenpo+. Regular kenpo is boring and not much of a workout. I don't like the swords, they make me dizzy.newarkcatholicfan wrote: Kenpo plus was yesterday and it was a butt kicker being it was the first time adding this to the program for my brother and I. -
thePITmanI'm seriously considering this. How much does it cost, just the program? And how much do you spend on their suggested diet per month? How many of you are doing the program without their suggested diet? And if so, how are your results? Thanks.

vdubb96thepitman, check this out. It should give you some good info. This is my member profile at beachody and shows my transformation along with alot of other helpful info.

The nutrition is a huge part of making it work. You can do it without, but you won't get near the results, nor as quick.thePITman wrote: I'm seriously considering this. Honestly, my grocery bill didn't go up that much, but if you don't get rid of the junk food from your house, you'll have a hard time. -
thePITmanSo no more of the Pizza Hut buffet I had today for lunch? Just yoking.
I'm seriously considering ordering this, now. I remember a while ago it was said I'd have to get a dumbbell and pull-up mechanism. I have some resistance bands at home. Do I need a dumbbell? A pull-up bar? Both? If only one, which one would be more important? My low ceiling is not very conducive to pull-ups in a doorway. -
newarkcatholicfanA friend of my brothers burned all the disc for him and we found all of the paper work on the net and copied it.
-
thePITmanI just read about 10 reviews of P90X on Amazon, and they ALL were blown away by the product. Coincidence? I'm thinking not. I'll be ordering this within the next week. I just need to find where in my house I'm going to do it. Carpet upstairs with higher ceiling and ability to do pull-ups, or tile downstairs with lower ceiling.

WeAreNCOMG My brother and i just started the P90X Plus. This of course after completing the P90X. We are doing the Regular P90X with some minor modifications along with the Kempo + and Ab Ripper + !!

You can get away with just the bands, but I used dumbells that I already had (20s,30s and 40s) and bought an iron gym pullup bar for $25 which I love.thePITman wrote: So no more of the Pizza Hut buffet I had today for lunch? Just yoking.

The best thing about the iron gym is I also use it for pushups and it gives me like 6 extra inches on my pushup range of motion which really helps blast my chest.
Plus the pullup and chinup are some of the best upper body exercises you can do. -
WaltOkay.... maybe I'm just a wuss but I didn't like it. First off, it was hard for me to carve out an hour plus every day. Realistically I only have about 45 minutes. I tried it for the first three weeks. I didn't get any stronger... I still struggled with my pull ups and after the first two or three sets of any exercise I was gassed and could only get 6 or 7 reps per set after that.
The plyos seemed like too much pounding on the leg joints for a 40 year old. I run 4 miles three times a week and my joints don't ache like they did after plyos.
I don't know... maybe I didn't stick with it long enough, but I really dreaded working out while I was doing it. I enjoy going to the gym but this sucked. -

If you going to order it from beachbody, contact vdubb for a discount.thePITman wrote:I'll be ordering this within the next week. -
newarkcatholicfanIt was regular Kenpo for this 47 year old fat boy today.
-
thePITmanQuestion. How often do I have to jump as high as I can? I definitely will NOT be able to do this in the basement, where I will be doing most my workouts.

Once a week for 30 seconds 6 times.thePITman wrote: Question. How often do I have to jump as high as I can? I definitely will NOT be able to do this in the basement, where I will be doing most my workouts.
How high is your ceiling? Just don't put your hands above your head on the squat reach jumps and you should be ok, unless you think you'll hit your head. -
newarkcatholicfanNot sure what cardio workout my brother and I will do today but I know it will be a good one especially for this fat old guy.
-
newarkcatholicfanKenpo plus again today and it looked like I just got out of the sauna when we were done doing it.
-
thePITmanMan!! I went to MC Sports and Dunham's today to check some prices, and dumbbells (or dumbbell sets) are expensive! I'm cool with getting a pull-up bar thing for the doorway, and a mat to use on the ground... But $25 per dumbbell, or $200+ for an adjustable set? I don't know.
-
WeAreNCOne option is to check Craigs list for dumbells. Aslo if you are interested.. http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/insanity.do?code=BBHOME_CONTROL_INS this is the workout by Shaun T. It is a 60 day workout .. No weights, bands or pull up bar. Supposed to be the most intense home workout ever created.

thePITmanIs it possible to do P90X without the dumbbells? If so, what are the alternatives?
