Anyone ever experienced racism

My friend and I were once kicked off a public transportation bus in Charlotte some time after midnight. We were the only two white people on the bus.

Driver: you two in the back, this is your stop.
Us: No, ma'am, this isn't where we need to get off.
    Driver: Yes, it is.
    Us: No, it isn't.
Driver: You two need to get off the bus.
    Us: Oh, ok.

So we ended up stranded in the middle of who the fuck knows where Charlotte for a few hours while we waited for a cab to come pick us up. It was also cold and rainy.

Back in my day your types were called "wiggers" or "wannabes"

Once while walking home from the bar in cody Wyoming with one of my Nigerian friends, I was giving him shit because he spilt a drink on his really expensive silk shirt. He shoved me (not aggressively at all) and a police cruiser whips in behind us and a cop gets out looks at me and says 'is this boy bothering you?'. That's as close as I've got.

I got pulled over in Macon Georgia back in 1988. I thought I was toast. I was in the car with my 2 friends who are Jewish...Northern Jews. Fortunately the state trooper let us go with a warning. I figured an EYEtalian and a couple of northern Jews where going to disappear that night in GA.

Wasn't it rascist of you to think the Trooper was racist?

No, I was relieved when I saw he was black. I made an assumption before he got out of the car. I think that's why we got a warning. A white trooper from Macon GA, knows how to disappear 3 northern boys.

Saying that black people are on welfare and are gangsters because of the way they dress is fun and accurate!

    Racism, no. But...

I spent two weeks in San Antonio several years ago when I worked for a trucking company. The company put me in a hotel within walking distance of the terminal, which was in a purely Hispanic neighborhood (or, as the locals called them, the "Meskins"). My off time was during the day, so I spend some time roaming around the area, and was usually the only Anglo guy around. I usually ate my meals at a little mom and pop joint a couple doors down from the hotel - I never heard a word of English spoken while I was there (the food was incredible, though).

No one was ever rude or disrespectful to me (I spoke and understood Spanish, which helped), but it was unnerving as hell.

What a joke of a thread. The original thought behind the thread was fine but when someone basically says minorities cant be racist because the majority of people who hold power are white it's time to close the thread.

I was actually restating the definition of racism. It is based on power structures within a society. Racism and prejudice are 2 different things. I never said minorities could not act in an ignorant manner. I stated that technically they could not be racist. With that said, I don't really care about black, white, brown...because a person can be ignorant regardless of ethnicity. And racism is alive and well in the USA.

You can blame affirmative action as well as hiring quotas for this. No one respects minorities.

It only takes one wrong turn to make a white guy wish he was black.

There is one other thing that could make a white guy wish he was a black guy. 12 inch donger for the ladies to love.

Personally though, I've had some racist comments made towards me here by the Hawaiians. But I always just smile and keep walking. Hawaiians HATE the military and tourists. And I get it. Yet every base is full of thence working on them and they also flock here to use the base for personal use(those who work on base have civilian dod passes). Pisses me off.
    That's because you're a dirty haole.

When I worked in west Virginia at a summer camp I saw racism first hand. One night we went into our usual bar in marlington, wv. Happened to get there first with another counselor. He was an Ohio state rugby player from Zimbabwe. As we sit down I look up and were surrounded by skinheads. Luckily right then another group of counselors arrived. The second group of counselors were big English looking hooligan types and they came and stood right in-between everyone and the skinheads left.
