The elitist attitude here makes me laugh.
Wouldn't the elitist attitude be coming from the ones who tell people what they should or shouldn't do with their money?

No one needs a smart phone. They are designed to make boring people feel cool because their phone can play games and surf the web.

    Color me impressed.
!0 years ago nobody needed a flip phone.

30 years ago nobody needed a cordless phone

40 years ago nobody needed a landline

70 years ago nobody needed to communicate long distance.

Your logic is both ignorant (common for you) and flawed.

Given the # of people who own "smartphones" it seems like the world is a "boring" place then...

That's a shitty statement to make.

I am not telling anyone what to do with their money. Hell, it has been the willy-nilly spending in the wireless industry that purchased my cars and house. I am just saying that I have seen it day in, and day out, for over ten years of people talking themselves into purchasing stuff they do not really need. Many times I dont even have to talk them into getting little johnny a smart phone at the age of 12. Just saying that most people do not need smart phones, just like most people do not need most of the stuff they have. I was in reponse to Sleeper and agreeing with him (My God, is it the apocalypse?). It is funny how people talk themselves into and convince themselves that the 'NEED' something when the really dont. Kinda like those people who feel they "need" a new vehicle because they had to bring there old one into the shop for one 300 dollar repair last year. They use that to justify for them to act on their wants and desires to buy something new when in reality they dont. I used to visit a buddy of mine who was working at a car dealership and to listen to people there is just as funny as in this business. One lady mentioned how in the last year she had to buy new tires, brakes and battery for her car, but in the 5 years she had it that was the only thing she ever had to do (except for oil changes) and that the car was 'just costing too much to maintain' even though those three repairs were like 2-3 months of a payment for a new car she talked herself into a new one using that justification that her other car was 'falling apart' when it was just normal car stuff.

Yeah....our economy RELIES on people who spend their money like drunken sailors on shore leave. If it didnt...then we would all be in a world of hurt. If everyone followed my spending habits...our economy would be in the absolute shitter.

OMG, people are actually buying things, in a capitalistic free market, that "they don't need"!!!! WTH is this country coming too? Imagine how much better our economy would be if people only bought what they needed and not what they wanted. Who gives a fuck if they're using their own money to purchase these unneeded items! What we need to do is force these idiots to put that cash, they obviously don't need, and give it to people that can actually put it toward something that is needed.
