Act of Valor-Navy SEALs movie

  • thavoice
Saw a trailer during one of the football games this weekend.

Man, that movie looks awesome. I hadnt even heard about it until that promo.

Apparently it started as a recruiting video in 2007 and morphed on from there. It has actual active duty SEALs in the movie, of which of course yo wont be able to see their faces nor will their names be released.

I think it looks pretty bad ass and with its origins I am thinking it wont be some cheesy ass movie.

Ever since my brother became a SEAL I have engulfed in learning about what they do and such. Totally amazing.

Anyone else looking to go see this movie?

Pretty cool your bro is a seal. Nice to know somebody has balls in your family. You should have him take care of your wife.

Been waiting for this for months. We are doing a special early screening for our future sailors at the theatre next to our office.

I saw all their faces and their names are in the description.

I agree the movie does look pretty cool. I will definitely be going to see it.

Names and faces of the actors?

What I have read this morning is that some of the actual manavuers and such that you cannot see the faces are the actual Team guys.

Brutus...that would be sweet! Think that will motivate a few to try and get a BUD/s contract? Is the attrition rate still about the same? I know 168 started Pre-BUD/s in my brother's class, I think around 130 actually made it to the BUD/s and only 19-20 graduated the first time through.

I misread you...I thought you were saying they were using the SEALs as the actors...mi bad

Oh OK. They most def keep their names under wraps that is for sure. They even blur out their faces usually if there is any picture/video of them and they are still active.

It'll always be bad. That's what makes it special.

    As it should be.

You most assuredly know about "Breakout". well when I was out there for his graduation they just happened to have breakout for another class and we were on base and got to catch a little bit of it. PRetty freaking crazy!

I saw Act of Valor last night. Wow... what a great movie. Sure the "acting" wasn't any good, but you knew that going into the movie. This movie really gave me a deep appreciation for the men (& women) who serve this country (not that I didn't have any before). I also walked out feeling VERY proud to be an American. It just makes you wonder... those were the things we saw... imagine what REALLY goes on that is "top secret" and we don't know about. For me, it did seem to be pretty realistic. My two favorite scenes were both early on in the movie - 1) where the guy creeps up out of the water to catch the guy after a sniper puts one in his head, so the guy doesn't make a splash; and 2) when the calvary (aka the machine gun boat) comes rushing around the corner and just unleashes what can only be describes as "hell."

Very awesome movie. Anyone who doesn't like / appreciate this movie has 0 heart and 0 respect for the service. I thought it was VERY well done. [Wouldn't mind seeing a "sequal" as well]

My brother got to catch an early showing of it last night in Eastern ohio or WVa or Pitts area, i forget. There was supposedly some dinner and a whole to-do about it last night. He was in the Teams and did 3 deployments in 5 years and he is supposed to let me know how realistic it is!

As for the active duty SEALs...it was my understanding that there faces are on the scrren or anything.....it was just some of the actual training and such that they showed them......is that accurate?

    Is it because:
    A. Your own war experience
    B. Ya think it will be too unrealistic and ya dont watch war movies
    C. Dont think what they do should be on the big screen and this is a bad idea
    D. Jarhead jealousy because they are squids?

Let me get this straight....if someone didn't like this movie, that automatically translates into them having "0" respect for the service? LOL, and you say what Tiger and GD said was dumb? That is the stupidest fucking thing I've read on this thread. The movie looks corny as shit. Looks like a bunch of action with no plotline. I guess those of us that served and won't like this movie have "0" respect for the service though. GTFO

I want to see it, I think it looks pretty good.

My question though, are there any wolves attacking the Seals? Because if not the movie really falls a few notches in realism.
