I like Tebow. I don't know if he's my favorite athlete, but what's not to like about him?

honestly, i hate the media coverage on him(not his fault), i hate his nut huggers(not his fault), i hate his gross display of constant religion before, during, and after football games(his fault). i don't like it. i don' care. i want him to just play football. don't you really think god has better things to do other than worry about his football? don't you think his great work ethic had more to do with him being good at football than god did? shit pisses me off. don't thank god, thank ike taylor and mundy for sucking.

I have nothing against Tim Tebow...in fact, I admire him.

Humble, polite and considerate by all indications and a man of faith. What's not to like??

What I do not like has nothing to do with him or his persona. I absolutely detest that ESPN and other sports networks cover him 24/7. I was on the treadmill on Monday for 30 minutes watching SportsCenter. 26 minutes of the 30 were Tim Tebow.

    WHY??

Yes, his team won a game....
Yes, he threw an 18 year pass that the receiver turned in to an 80 year touchdown....
Yes, he threw for 316 yards (nice coincidence)....

Hasn't that all been done before???

I guess my only recourse is to no onger watch SportsCenter or partonize ESPN.

That said...I think he's great for the sport and hope he lasts longer then a couple years. It's just him being "most popular" seems nutty to me.

The religious thing is annoying, but its better than him being a thug.

Don't worry, he'll be out of the league soon enough.

Why don't these MLB players who bless themselves and kiss the cross arount their necks everytime the step to the plate get a free pass but Tebow is scrutinized.
  • ytownfootball
I hated the coverage when he was in college, just something I didn't care for about pimping a college athlete for any reason. Now that he's in the pro's I really don't care. The nut swingers are the worst though, I liken them to SQ and his love for everything LeBron...not an appealing characteristic.
  • Automatik
The media's infatuation with him is approaching Brett Favre level.

Because they are from Cuba, Venezuela or some other 3rd world country. They also sacrifice chickens and believe in voodoo.
Who is America's most popular baseball player?

So you hate anyone that is religious? Its not like he is going on national TV and acting like an idiot condeming whol cities saying that Katrina was the wrath of God like one idiot preacher did. If he was saying dumb stuff like that then i could see your distaste of his religious views.

But my goodness, the guy prays and thanks God for how blessed he is to be playing in the NFL. Yeah, that guy sucks...

I don't agree with him using his companies marketing to "preach" his religious beliefs.
If he wants to do it outside of the NFL's coverage, that's fine.
His "signature" bow and pray move after every TD has to go.

But pulling out a sharpie and eatin' yo popcorn is ok?

Really shouldn't be so offended by it, it's not the school and it's not the state.

If it is his company, it shouldn't bother you. Don't buy their stuff.
Its ok to act like a thug and an egotistical moron inside of the NFL's coverage, but not talk about thanking God?
Of all the TD celebrations in the NFL, him praying is the one that bothers you...show's your bias towards anything religious.

You just hate all that because he is religious, not because of the acts.

If his company cares, then they can always fire him. I don't like religion as much as the next guy as its clearly a made up system, but there are a lot worse things that Tebow could be doing.

I don't agree with firing but do think a fine is appropriate. Didn't Kitna get in trouble for a hat? Can't remember details, recall somebody getting fined for religious clothes??
(I'm sure some smart OC'er remembers what I'm thinking of....)

I'm not religious at ALL. I don't believe in any supernatural being.

That said, I like Tebow. I don't mind his religious views because I believe his is genuine. He practices what he preaches and I can respect that.

I have friends that are devoutly religious, and we get along fine because I know they really believe, and they know I don't.

Same with Jmog, I don't believe he is right on the religious issues, but I respect that fact that he really believes it, and while I don't know him personally, it seems that he lives his life that way.

What bothers me is when convicts, or sports thugs use religion and Jesus to try to cover their tracks.

Yeah. I don't have anything against Tebow for believing what he believes. Or for praying after doing something or whatever. The wall-to-wall coverage and nuthuggers on the other hand...it's just crazy. Apparently he is the first human in the history of the earth to be religious or marketable as a good person.
  • ManO'War
I can remember a time in sports when pretty much everyone was a good guy, and there were so few thugs that they really stood out. Then the thugs slowly took over to become the norm, so that now a days when there is a really "good guy" it is so rare that it becomes a big story.
  • GoPens
On the other hand, I bet if there was a poll asking for the least popular or most hated athlete, he might be #1, although Lebrick would give him a run.
  • hoops23
Players get down on one knee all the time after scoring Td's. Nothing new with Tebow doing it.
