The only thing is that they could have chosen better wording, like "Asian Lady", but of course that would have been made a big deal too.
Agreed. There are a lot of people that take offense when I say stuff like "Black man" as opposed to just man. It doesn't make any sense to me that people actually take offense for me using the traits of a person to identify them. There are people that also get mad or take offense when I say "Asians are good at math" or "Black people are good at sports". I blame that perception on minorities and their own insecurities.

No I don't think it's okay. It's called being sarcastic or making a soft joke. Of course it's wrong.

And before anyone says, "Well it wasn't funny," please note that I am not Jerry Seinfeld or some other famous Jewish comedian.

I wonder if Lady Chinky Eyes will be the asian version of Lady Ga Ga?
  • I Wear Pants
There is no way sleeper is a business person if he thinks that this sort of thing is acceptable. Just write down the lady's name it isn't that difficult.

Because you're using ridiculous racial stereotypes. That's the same as saying "white people are intolerant assholes" because people like you exist.

Thats because "man round eyes" isn't a racial slur. Calling someone a " Asian chink" is. If they would have wrote "White honky man eyes" you would be pissed.

Obviously you haven't been out of the country or around asian people...they call white people "round eyes" as a slur just as we call them slanty eyes.

My ex gf was from Thailand, and they have as many slurs against us as we do them.

these are redundant. Chink = Asian and Honky = White, in case you didn't know.

Where did I ever say it was acceptable? What if the lady didn't give her name or the man couldn't understand her name?

I just think the backlash is a little extreme and screams PC more than anything.
  • ManO'War
BTW, I've never known one white person in my entire life to be offended by "honky". I remember a black kid saying that to me when I was little and I laughed in his face.

The same with "cracker"...even though that term means something totally different that what it is used for now.

Political correctness is changing everyday. With all the foreign people taking charge of our government, it is hard to keep up.

No it was not ok to identify her like that, he should have used the term, "slant eyed bitch"

i agree that this shouldn't be national news. i agree that the person should have been fired. i agree that "lady chinky eyes" is incorrect. should have been "lady chink" or "lady slanty eyes". I don't see the first one making much sense. I slightly agree with sleeper that people need to get thick skin. i'm not saying those are acceptable, i'm just saying it shouldn't be national news.

That's true. A straight white male who happens to be a big pussy can find a lot of things they're called offensive.

it has everything to do with thick skin. just because you dont find it offensive means someone else doesnt. and not every black or asian person gets offended when saying racial slurs.

Actually had a discussion in class last night about this.

Why isn't a chief called king?
    Warrior a soldier?
    Teepee a house?

Was something I never thought of.

We agree on this. Disagree on tebow. Not allowed on this board.
