  Saw it Friday night. It was packed in there and the previews were terrrible. Anyway, I read all three books and thought the movie was pretty good. It stayed relatively close to the book, aside from a few aspects. I wouldn't really consider it a chick flick, I mean it's no notebook or Twilight.

  I just got back a little bit ago. I thought it was alright but nothing great. The lead actress was nice to look at though.
  
  [SP]I haven't read the books. Just throwing that out so what I say doesn't make me sound like I'm a goof. I didn't care for the guy being able to live. I thought 1 winner would have been more interesting. I was excited when the voice came over the loud speaker reversing the rule about 2 people being able to win and then they reversed that decision and it lost a little bit for me. I understand how it made it more interesting to the viewers if they thought the two were in love but it didn't do it for me. I couldn't get interested in that angle for one thing because he was helping the cool kid alliance try to find her in the beginning of the game. I guess you are supposed to believe she let that go because he was doing what he thought would keep himself alive.[/SP]

  The biggest problem with the movie is that the author developed a ton of the book inside of Katniss's head. It's hard to show thoughts, rather than actions, through acting.

  I liked the movie, though the raving was probably influenced a lot because I read the book series. It is a nice movie but not great, well you would again hear people claiming that there are important details in the book that were not used in the movie but that is just the way things work. If you wanted to get every bit of detail, then you must have opted to read the book instead. Good movie nonetheless.

  Exactly. Everything happened for a reason. But the movie didn't really show it.

  Such is the pitfall of turning a first person book into a third person movie. A lot of Katniss' thoughts get left out and that takes away from some storyline. I think the people that saw the movie first definitely missed out on the deeper plotlines. Just my opinion.
  
  Also, bigdaddy, if you read the second book or see the second movie you will likely change your opinion that they "got away with it" by being allowed to survive.
