He's fine if we leave and he's not penned up.. he freaks out in a box.LJ;1044831 wrote:Yeah, it is 100% seperation anxiety. The electric won't help at all, probably make it worse. Because then he will associate you leaving with getting hurt as well as being locked up. -

This is probably a likely outcome given the info you provided. I'm not sure the best solution with the situation you have.LJ;1044831 wrote:Yeah, it is 100% seperation anxiety. Wow, really? That was a stretch. I would assume most vets would scoff at a surgery like that?LJ;1044837 wrote:Yes -

If he was abused he was probably mentally abused with cage use as well. Like LJ said he probably associates the cage with something bad.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1044839 wrote:He's fine if we leave and he's not penned up.. he freaks out in a box. -

Yeah, it's just part of the anxiety. Does he sleep in his cage at night?ZWICK 4 PREZ;1044839 wrote:He's fine if we leave and he's not penned up.. he freaks out in a box.
We have a pit/lab mix who has separation anxiety. She literally busted out the side of the cage. We have her on clomipromine and a thundershirt. We also started having her sleep in her cage at night. If we leave and leave her out, she is usually ok but just gets into shit. She doesn't tear things up like anxiety, but she is just constantly into things.
Separation anxiety is an ongoing lifelong issue that can't just be beat, trained or shocked out of the dog. -

Yeah, usually only done in extreme cases of barking or trauma. As in, an elderly person is going to get kicked out of her apartment if her helper dog doesnt stop barkingernest_t_bass;1044842 wrote:Wow, really? That was a stretch. I would assume most vets would scoff at a surgery like that? -

Have you associated praise with the cage? Giving the dog a treat for going in?ZWICK 4 PREZ;1044861 wrote:No we've tried putting him in a cage at night and he doesn't sleep at all and wont calm down. -

Sounds like he needs a maintenence drug and something like xanax to take the edge off everytime you leave/. -

I tried to give our dog to everyone for Christmas. I even wrapped her in wrapping paper and took her to my parents'se-alum;1044863 wrote:Is it not possible that it just "ran away"? -

It is with hardwood. It also sucks when it gets into the grout in the kitchen.Glory Days;1044938 wrote:do you have a basement or would it be possible to pen it up in the kitchen where it could have a little bit of freedom to move but still be contained? plus with the concrete or hardwood floor, pee clean up wouldnt be terrible. -
THE4RINGZCan't you just get rid of the dog? It doesn't sound like a very friendly pet.

SnotBubblesHurting God's precious creatures in any way is inhumane. Please find a better way. If it's a good thing in the eyes of the Almighty, treat it as such.
Genesis 1:24-25 24 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures of every kind: cattle and creeping things and wild animals of the earth of every kind." And it was so.God made the wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps upon the ground of every kind. And God saw that it was good. -

Like our Lord and Savior Jebus Christ, it was lifted (to Heaven in his case...my ban was lifted, His soul was lifted...to Heaven...to watch over all of us and forgive our sins).ernest_t_bass;1045267 wrote:What happened to your ban? -
