Cut out the personal attacks and over-the-top name calling

Agreed. It's subjective and the authority to make the determination with regards to what is and what is not respectful has been granted to those who moderate. Some will agree and some will not. That's the nature of subjectivity.

Admittedly, this site is basically dead now, but I moderated it about 8-9 years ago at the height of its popularity. I went by the user name "clone".
It's been around for how long and it only has 200k more posts than the OC. A quick look shows posts from as far back as 2004.

Which is why you need moderators who know what they are doing. In my opinion, you don't have any except maybe FFT who is never around anymore, which despite my love for the guy, is a flaw you cannot overlook.

There was an issue with the server when a new network administrator came in and they lost a significant chunk of content. Like I said, the forum died about 4-5 years ago because the game associated with the forum went down the shitter.

Moderators knowing what they are doing might just exist right now. It's possible it's the exact type ofmoderationactivity that Justin wants. You might not.

No, they don't know what they are doing. Clearly if they were doing what Justin wants, this thread would not exist. I rarely see anything that I would constitute as being effective moderation. Despite his inconsistency, C4F is about the only person who actually does any moderating.

We disagree. There's enough kept off this site to make it entertaining enough forme to come on here. I don't have a need for more or less moderation. It's enough.

Inconsistent or not, I find it sufficient.

I guess I don't really care about "trolling", who is or who isn't as basically there isn't anything in the forum rules that preclude it. But I do have to side with sleeper in regards to moderation of such, there certainly isn't anything that allows anyone insight as to how "trolls" are moderated, or anything for that matter. Other than increasing the likelyhood of posters breaking rules with their responses and requiring increased moderation, he's not breaking any rules.

Error on my part for never officially adding it to the site rules even though there was a thread detailing it and a forum created for it.

I was going to say, I thought we had a discussion about it in the mod forum.

Maybe not breaking rules but how this place is moderated isn't necessarily based on what posters want. The site owner decides how he wants it to be moderated and how he wants rules to be enforced. The posters decide if they want to participate or not.

    That's crazy talk, right there.

Well yeah I mean those of us who have been around realize this.

And the only people we have a problem with are those who have been around long enough to know about it.

Thank you. If anything, I have to follow the rules more closely than others on this forum, because the moderators here are quicker on the trigger to ban me. I don't have a problem with this, as long as the moderators are following the rules that are outlined and not making up rules to fit specific scenarios. The latter happens a lot more than the former unfortunately.

Yes, however as justin stated we do all know that the basement was created specifically for that purpose. It's only a point of parliamentary procedure and he's only a script line or two from being fully compliant;)

The basement solves nothing. It's flawed logic if Justin thinks that creating a forum where everyone can get into pissing matches will solve any of the problems mentioned in this thread.

Having a clear mandate of what is acceptable and applying that mandate to ALL USERS is the only way to fix the issues at hand. Also, finding moderators that can do this consistently will go a long way in increasing the quality of this forum and attracting new blood.

    Will you be a moderator?

    Yes.

He built a basement already. Capone lives there

Justin, are you going to move the basement, so it is easier to see in the forums?

You thought I was serious? I kinda want to ban you but I won't because you didn't break a rule and I am a fair and just administrator.
