Gas/Oil eastern Ohio boom

    More jobs are already here,drilling has started in Harrison, Carroll county,ads for workers are abundant.Google gas oil jobs in eastern Ohio to see for yourself.
    Spin-off has begun in real estate with out of town riggers buying houses and Oil companies buying old factories and leasing space in others.
    As for infrastructure,it may get worse before it gets better,but it will eventually come.

    Wow good one, considering I'm not gay. I also didn't say a damn thing about not drilling. All I said is one action is causing another action. I could careless if they drill as long as my family is safe and nothing happens with these earthquakes.

    You guys do realize that fault lines run down through Ohio...this has nothing to do with any drilling.

    There are legitimate concerns/questions with gas drilling and such involving environmental issues. Drilling causing earthquakes is not one of those concerns.

    They 'll be inoperational until a determination is made in an investigation of a possible link between the earthquakes and the fluid-injection wells
    I don't have any issues with "investigation" but the investigation had better be impartial, fast, and even-handed. But I have a hunch the investigations will drag on and environmental extremism will rear its ugly head.

    I'll just say it...If fracking does indeed cause occasional minor seismic activity (IE: less than 5.0) then so be it. The much needed economic benefits to eastern Ohio and the need to wean this country off dependence on unstable foreign sources of energy is a fair trade-off.

    This might be true and worth it if the gas was being used to wean the US off foreign energy, however much of this gas will be drilled out of Ohio and PA and shipped overseas--mainly to China.

    From reports I have read they have looked as seismic activity from pre drilling and from post drilling and the instances of earthquakes are pretty much the same.

    Chicken Littles just notice it now because they are waiting for the sky to fall...or the ground to tremble.

    Gnadenhutten water hauling company started 2 months ago with 5 employees,now up to 17 expecting to have between 60 and 100 mostly drivers. Job pays 40-60,000 a year. Owner say things will get crazy in Tusc county with many new jobs.

    My guess is that you guys haven't done much research into this issue. All (admittedly limited) available research at this point indicates that fracking causes lots of minor seismic activity (sub 5.0 quakes). That much doesn't appear to be debatable--very clearly, fracking causes minor quakes. The concern is over whether the process has the potential for causing larger quakes, what the risks are, and whether those risks are worth it when compared to the obvious financial/employment benefits.

    I would love to see these issues resolved: I'm a landowner in the Marcellus region (for a property that already produces decent oil revenues), and I'm an energy/environmental regulatory attorney who represents shale gas companies, so for a number of reasons, I really want this to go forward. But it's very important to do it right and make sure what we're doing isn't going to cause huge headaches down the line.

    ODNR has suspended drilling in 5 wells in Mahoning Cnty so obviously some folks alot smarter than all the OC "geologists" have some concerns. Too bad really because fracking is at least creating some jobs in E OH and W PA.

    You are correct, I've not done any research. Then again, the only land I own is in the town of Massillon, so I don't really have much of a reason to either.

    If the citizens started to get wealthy on their own, the government wouldn't have a way to control them.

    The government needs less jobs and more people on welfare.

    Just last month they blocked 250k new jobs just in our region.

    The more I sit back and watch our economy shrink and unemployment go up, it occurs there is only one truth. The control the citizens, control the country. If you create a majority that relies on your welfare, you create a voting mass to keep you elected and giving handouts

    I saw they shut down injection on 5 disposal wells due to the quake. Didn't see anything about stacking rigs.

    Yeah and word is they are actually afraid it is interfering with a fault, not that it is just randomly causing quakes.

    The big drilling...thing up the road from me is now gone though the guard shack at the beginning of the drive they built remains and is stiill manned. What does that mean?
