Death penalty for or against

  • Thinthickbigred
Save the jokes for the ones who want me dead or lets be honest . just see what we come up with
  • Thinthickbigred
Against it . too many people have been murdered on death row that were later found to be innocent .
Now we have people every year being freed because of old DNA some 30 and 40 years old .
  • BR1986FB
For but it's not a deterrent unless they expedite the process. If a Death Row inmate gets to sit and appeal for 10 years, what's the sense?
  • ts1227
    pls be honest

If there is indisputable evidence they are guilty, I'm for it. Unfortunately some people don't deserve to live.

For Priests who molest little kids....YES.
  • GoPens
For but only with indisputable proof like several eye-witnesses and DNA.

Against it, wait For it, wait I lied...

Against it. It's the ultimate penalty. If you put someone in prison for life and figure out 5 years later they were really innocent, you can let them out. If you put someone to death and 5 years later figure out they're innocent, they're still fucking dead.

How did I know this was a thin thick thread?

who would be examples of people legally executed under the present era, post furman v georgia 1972 that were innocent?

    For it

    I really haven't decided yet.

I used to be for it. I am now not 100% for or against it. I know there are times that I believe people should be executed.

It's cheaper to incarcerate for life -- although it could really be cheaper to execute if things were done differently.

Yep some people do such things that everybody wants them stoned to death but putting an innocent man to death is horrible . Supermax or total isolation is probably worse than death for the worst criminals

For it, especially for child killers & serial rapists.

I am against it. Instead let the convicted know that he will be visited daily unsupervised by representatives of the victim. He will be put in a straight jacket, the representative of the victim will have access to a baseball bat and dull knives. Put a rope in his cell just long enough to reach the top of the cell and let him make his own decision.</SPAN>

I almost think solitary confinement is a worse penalty. To me, being driven to insanity would be worsthan death.

As for the question, I dont think it is a detterant but some people deserve it.

    +1

    This.

I don't think we use it enough.

Tentatively for it. I don't have strong moral objections to it, though I don't think it's a very effective deterrent.

    Makes sense.

I say let the States decide, this should not be a Federal issue. Depending on how the law is written I would be for it in certain instances.

I'm for it. As others have said, if there is DNA matches to a child rapist, multiple eye witnesses/video proof, or other types of slam dunk evidence, I think there should be no more than one appeal process, and then death. I don't care about the "deterrent" aspect, but isn't it the absolute deterrent to the person committing the crime? They will never commit a crime again. My buddy works at a prison as a CO, and he said the people there are absolute garbage. They smile at him all day long, they don't care that they are there.

For it and put in an express line.

Why should they? Three meals a day, a roof over there head, a bunk to sleep in, and all the ass you can get---it's a frickin' resort for most of these pieces of shit

Definitely for it. If you're guilty without a shadow of a doubt, you need to go immediately.
