I you are going to pull out in front of me with no vehicle in sight behind me...

definite reps. Hate that shit so bad.

I hate people who pull out in front of you in the passing lane, and then proceed to take 5 miles to pass the guy.

yeah, hate that too. Worse is the driver that hangs out in the left lane doing the speed limit or less, and won't move over. Worst, and most dangerous is the driver that drives side by side with the car in the right lane and neither will increase speed to pass or decrease speed and drop in behind. Doesn't driver's ed teach anyone the concept of leaving an "out" for yourself and other drivers anymore?
Another pet peeve of mine is the person that cuts in front of you when two oncoming vehicles come to an intersection at the same time trying to make left hand turns.

This happens to me at least 2x's a week on Rt 14 going into work.

There's an exit ramp off of 76, I believe, that a person always decides to pull out in front of me, nice & slow, as I'm doing about 50-55 mph. I'd have no issue if I was a couple hundred yards away from them but, nooooo....they see me off in the distance, are probably thinking "should I pull out" and then decide "it's a MUCH better idea to pull out in front of a car bearing down on me from 20-30 yards away and drive REAL slow than it is to pull out when they are a couple hundred yards away."

Times like that make me wish I had the old radar lock and a missile like in "Top Gun."

    What's so dangerous about that?

I don't mind that so much, but what I hate is when people try and merge onto the highway going 45.

People routinely do that on 315 as well as 270.

You can't fucking do that shit. It is more dangerous than merging at 80.

Definitely agree. I use cruise control alot and its funny either as i pass someone they suddenly speed up so i dont pass or someone starts to pass me then slows down when they get next to me.

well for one that car would be in your blind spot and like Hits said, if you have to take some evasive action to avoid something in the road or whatever, you would be stuck.

Agreed. i hate this probably more than anything. everyone on the on ramp then gets backed up and it makes it harder for everyone else to merge into traffic.

Blind spot? The cars he's talking about are in front of you.

THIS. It's an on ramp, idea being you catch up to the speed of traffic, not hop on 71 doing 45

Worst, and most dangerous is the driver that drives SIDE BY SIDE with the car in the right lane and neither will increase speed to pass or decrease speed and drop in behind.

    Ok take a deep breath.

Now picture this: you are driving and you come up behind two cars side by side and neither will alter their speed to allow both to get in the right lane, one in front of the other. That is the scenario.

Explain how your own blind spot comes into play. Durp.

imagine this. you are driving along, cruising at a steady speed in the left lane approaching a car in the right lane. you begin to pass but the car speeds up and maintains the same speed as you. this is the scenario. derp derp. why would you need an out like he describes if you are behind the two cars. you can easily move out of the way or change lanes etc.
  • Steel Valley Football
Oh boy...we have a fail by Glory Days. That is not the scenario. Go read again what he wrote.

He's not talking about himself being one of the cars in question or he wouldn't have stated "neither will increase speed..."

Ergo, the cars are in front of him.

I'm talking about it being dangerous to drive side by side (especially on a freeway)when you don't have to. It is dangerous to both drivers who are side by side, and it also clogs up the lanes so drivers who want to pass are not able to do so....so the traffic starts backing up behind, and more often than not, it leads to the multiple side by side situations all the way back. It doesn't matter whether you are the front cars driving side by side...or the cars trailing.

If I am driving in a car in the right lane, if a car is just hanging off my door or taking to long to pass, I'll either speed up or slow down so as to have an open spot to move to. I really don't understand why people (either driver in either lane) would want to drive for a prolonged period in this position.

I use my cruise a lot on the highway for better gas mileage and to keep consistent speed so as not to annoy other drivers. It drives me CRAZY when my constant speed has me passing another vehicle, then they speed up so I can't pass them. I won't get off my cruise 'cuz eventually they almost always slow back down to their original speed. However, sometimes they stay at that speed so I'm forced to increase my speed a little bit to get past them and then resume my original cruise speed. So for brief moments I am "that guy" in the left lane, but only because the driver in the right lane is being a dousche.

It's annoying to the cars who want to pass but there's no real danger in it. It's legal because it's deemed safe as long as all cars are obeying the traffic laws.

I think we all understood but this is a different scenario than what was painted before. It was clear you were not the driver before.
