    4) Has a corny catchphrase

Yet you can't tell us 1 single lyric of the song??????

Two songs come to mind and I think it is one of these two.
    1) Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot
    2) The Jack by AC/DC

    1) Male singer (acoustic/light rock style and sounds current vocally)

    2) 1970s

    3) I doubt it's a band

    4) Has a corny catchphrase - but the verse of the song is very good

    5) has a key change in the song

Other than that I have no idea. How would I go about figuring this out?
Phil Collins - Groovy Kind of Love ?

I'm not sure it's possible to not recognize ACDC when you hear them.

I was thinking Gordon Lightfoot too though.

It is possible that I missed the mark on the AC/DC:D

If it could be early 80's I'd say "Putting on the Ritz", but then I would not know a key change if one ran me over.

I was looking forward to answering this question as 70s music is my area of expertise...but those clues were useless.

I still dont know. I have to re-hear the song on XM radio before I can tell you.

It's not the well known nor is it a catchphrase persay. It's more acoustic and folky. I dont know man, im so frustrated I cant figure this out.
