Con_Alma"...Nobody likes this coach. He comes off as an arrogant ****. ..."
This.
I attended a high school 7-7 in Akron. This clown spoke and has a serious lack of PR skills. Arrogant is an understatement. -
stroupsHave a death match between fickell and your coach at halftime since it's obvious they don't like each other

I wish we would have hired Fickell instead of this douche...sighstroups;905237 wrote:Have a death match between fickell and your coach at halftime since it's obvious they don't like each other -

I'd check out zipsnation.org if you want more input from Akron fans..although, im sure you'd get much of the same stuff I said such as not fielding a competitive team, the coach, etc. -
karen lotzHave a kissing booth with Scooter's daughter. Everyone gets a "kiss" and it only costs them a Klondike bar.

Scooter1369The BJ booth is right next door. Karen only asks for a Snickers.

Do you have any Butterfingers? -

No. Unfortunately, I never got the memo that having Butterfingers = receiving BJs.karen lotz;905522 wrote:Do you have any Butterfingers? -

Maybe if the school had some give-away. Like first 1000 tickets sold get a plastic flask with the team logo?O-Trap;904306 wrote:
Obvious problem: They don't serve alcohol at the games. -
Con_AlmaWhat is the service they are selling and asking people to pay for? Entertainment?
Does the University really believe the people are getting their money's worth? Apparently the people don't which is why they're not attending.
Provide the people with a better product, ie. better entertainment through football, otherwise you are just trying to swindle them with gimmicks. Is that really what the University wants to be know as? ...swindlers??? -
ts1227Everyone in attendance gets to cock punch Coach Ianello at midfield after the game.

Why would anyone pay a klondike bar to kiss her when every guy has already done it for free.karen lotz;905337 wrote:Have a kissing booth with Scooter's daughter. Everyone gets a "kiss" and it only costs them a Klondike bar. -

muffyChallenge all the clubs/organizations on campus to attend. The group with the highest attendance, through the 3rd quarter, gets $1000. Let the same groups do some kind of challenge on the field at half time - has to be something several groups can do at the same time and do quickly, winner gets $500 for their group.
Can't do cash? offer free food catering, provided by university dining halls, to winning group up to $500 or $750 or $1000 - whatever is doable - for some event they are having or would like to have.
Invite area football teams to come. Best attendance gets a pizza party for the team after the game or at the end of their season or both. Let their qbs compete in throwing at the half - accuracy, distance etc. $100 to the team of the winner in each category. Have them throw to on end zone. Have their kickers kick to the other one - again - hang time, distance, accuracy.
I don't know if this would work for football but it does for basketball. Person pays $1 to kick or throw the ball at a target, maybe a hula hoop ring. Ball lands and stays in there, they get $2 back. Profit from event can go to the university team, or draw the name of one of the participants in the kicking/throwing contest to receive it. OR if you do the student organizations challenge or invite high school teams, bands, cheerleaders - give it to them on of them. Throw all the groups, bands, etc names in to a bucket and draw a name. If enough money then split it - one for the college groups and one for the high school groups.
Money and free food gets people to attend.
Invite high school bands, let them march in a parade around campus, perform either pre-game, halftime, or post game. What they can do depends on how many bands and whether the visiting team brings their band. We always marched at our director's alma mater, they hosted a band day every year. We marched through the town (Akron might not allow that but they could march around campus.
Invite high school cheerleaders, let them each have a section of sideline and let em cheer.
For all these high school groups - the teams, bands, cheerleaders get in free. Their parents and fans pay. Parents will go wherever their kids are and they buy tickets and they buy concessions (ok - give them a break, cut ticket price 50% for them but pre-sale only).
If you invite the high school groups, have the various departments at your school set up tables to extoll their virtues and why these kids should come to your school - have a big display on financial aid, show off the academics but also promote the social aspect, the community service your students are involved in. have a raffle for a scholarship for $500 or $100 - or $10,000 - whatever the university will give - or do 5 $500 awards. Stipulation is you ONLY get the money if you attend that school and it has to go to fees (not living expenses or books).
BG students attend games free, the get a pretty good turn-out and their games are a LOT of fun. They have a really good band and the band is fun too. They have a tent at the South end for alumni and they have a huge tent for sale of BG apparel and other spirit items. I'm not a BGSU alumni, I attended a lot of games to watch my son though. I do believe they offer alcohol in the alumni tent. It's open before and during the game. Their games are often night games so I think it closes after.
12 AM game, see if food services will do a free breakfast buffet for those with campus dining hall passes and $3 or $5 or some reasonable price for those without university meal tickets. Besides beer, food is very high on students lists of things they want for free.
Have a concert afterwards, on the field. Either a rather large name group or a local group that is popular.
Have t-shirts, frisbees, etc to throw in to the student section at the end of each quarter or just theend of the 3rd. Toss candy on every first down for your school(ok, if they are REALLY bad just toss candy a couple times a quarter). Make it a party atmosphere. Visit some other schools with good or reasonably good attendance and see what they do. Skip Miami - terrible attendance but BG gets good attendance. -
Tigerfan00Have a game where everyone in attendance gets a free visor.
-
password$1.00 from every ticket sold for the game goes into a drawing for a visa gift card equal to the amount of tickets sold, at the end of the 3rd quarter you draw a winner for the card and they must be present to win. College kids can always use some extra money and this would increase ticket sales with residents of the area who normally don't attend games. People would come to the game for a chance to pick up some extra cash to help pay their bills or save for the holiday season. They could offer this promotion every week and they would be playing in front of sold out crowds after the second week. Local TV and Radio would pick up the story of the promotion and that would mean free advertising and no expense for the college.
