Warrior Dash Ohio II

I Wear PantsAnyone going tomorrow?
-
wes_mantoothMy kid (Stephen A Smith) is running in the 11 am heat.
-
I Wear PantsI think I'm in the 2 PM heat. I'll have to check that before tomorrow.
-
I Wear PantsThis event was really fun. The course was actually 3.7-4 miles though according to even guys and some peoples gps watch things instead of just a 5k. It was muddy as hell pretty much the whole way. I had a great time and will definitely be doing it and other events (ToughMudder, Original Mud Run, etc) in the future.
-
wes_mantoothMy kid loved it....he ran it in 55 min, not bad for a lazyass...lol
-
I Wear Pants37:10 for me but I definitely could have been a few minutes faster as I helped a girl over one of the obstacles since she was scared of heights and then got stuck behind a line of slow people in the mud pit that added at least a minute.
Fun shit and there were a ridiculous amount of people there. Results page shows 11,000 participants. -
wes_mantoothMy aunt who beat breast cancer about 3 yrs ago, ran it in 46 something and placed 5th in her age group....pretty awesome
-
I Wear PantsYeah that's great, I saw there was a 71 year old guy who did it. That's fucking bad ass.

There's a helmet cam of the course for anyone that cares to see it (not my videos). -
OneBuckeyeTheir press release said they got 14,000, $55 pre registers. I need to start up one of these things... I got the land, who else is in?
-
TedShecklerI did the Warrior Dash Ohio I in Logan this past June. I think they had over 20,000 runners. I wasn't able to do Ohio II because of prior commitments, so I did Warrior Dash Indiana last month. I'm already registered for 2012 in Logan.
-
I Wear PantsNext paycheck I'm signing up for the November 20th ToughMudder in Indiana which is going to be a 12 mile course.
Here's what the one in Vermont looked like:

justincredibleI cannot wait for the Tough Mudder I'm doing in VA next month. I should probably start training for it.
-
I Wear PantsYes, yes you should. A lot. You might die. Shit is so much more difficult.
-
justincrediblePiece of cake.
-
I Wear PantsI forgot that you are a world class athlete. My bad, I'm sure you'll win.
But yeah, don't have to get crazy with training but you'll have a better time I imagine if you don't feel like dying on the course. -

I was thinking the same thing. It is just like a cross country race or trail race with a couple cargo nets thrown in. People entering these crowded races could save about $40-60 and just enter a trail race and maybe even face a significantly more challenging course, or better yet just go on solo trail run when there is a steady rain.ccrunner609;893491 wrote:that looks like a regular CC meet for a JH team. Yeah there is nothing more "badass" than running a solo trail in a steady rain. I guarantee if you entered the Warrior dash you would see it's more than just a "couple of cargo nets thrown in". -
justincredibleTough Mudder would eat you alive.

The camera lens that was used makes it hard to tell but this was significantly hillier than most any CC course I've been on.ccrunner609;893491 wrote:that looks like a regular CC meet for a JH team. THe running course doesnt look like anything spcial
You could compare it to a trail run type thing though since that's what adventure runs are really, trail runs with obstacles mixed in. Warrior Dash isn't exactly the hardest of these either but it's fun as hell.
ToughMudder is a significantly more difficult race. -

I Wear PantsWhich guy? There were a lot of guys in jean shorts and other costumes. Dude beside me as I started was in a Gucci suit.
-
TedShecklerWhen I did Warrior Dash Indiana, I went as DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba.
-
justincredibleWhat kind of shoes do you guys recommend for these type of races? I've got a few pair of old tennis shoes but they have soles that would allow a lot of mud to get in and weigh them down.
Should I be looking at some lightweight trail running shoes or just a cheap pair of whatever tennis shoes I can find? -

Either go with cheap/old shoes or get yourself a pair of vibrams or other trail running shoes.justincredible;894281 wrote:What kind of shoes do you guys recommend for these type of races? I like my vibrams since they don't come off even in the thickest of mud where everyone else was loosing their shoes.
