Suck it ESPN.

Does anyone else find ESPN even more annoying than usual with the whole Tiger thing?
Save me the, "well don't watch it". I love ESPN because I can tune out the rest of what is actually important for awhile and just think about sports--but I still think they're HORRIBLE, no other option though.
But tonight I tune into SC and they spent a good 3 or 4 minutes going over the Tiger's mother-in-law thing. They played the 911 call. They had an on-site reporter talking about how there were no new details and they couldn't find anything out because they hired more security. They said neither Tiger nor his agent has made a comment about his mother-in-law yet.
Ok, first of all, this is ESPN news? What does this have to do with anything and exactly what details are they looking for? Do they think he beat her or something? lol
This has nothing to do with anything--I don't mind them covering the part of the story that has to do with Tiger. I'm as sick of hearing about it as anyone--what he did was wrong and pretty stupid but I like him because he makes golf interesting enough to watch. I don't care and I'm not surprised that he's not a good guy--however, they have a right to cover the story the way they are and I understand that. But seriously, are they really lowering their standards to TMZ levels? The story about his mother-in-law is not even news worthy and certainly not ESPN news worthy and CERTAINLY not THIS big of a deal. I'd rather hear you mention it, MAYBE, and play 3-4 minutes of extra highlights.
Just one example, but does anyone else agree that ESPN, just in the last few years, has become somewhat of a joke? Yet they can get away with it because they have a monopoly as far as televising sports coverage--where else are people going to tune in? But honestly, it's a shadow of it's former self. -
sleeperThe whole tiger thing is a joke. I don't care if his step mom was in the hospital, I mean really?
Lame. -
lhslep134Sorry dude, been saying this for 2 years now. If I want to watch highlights, I go to ESPN.com. Sometimes I'll DVR Sportscenter and fastforward until something I want to watch is on.
I hate what Sportscenters become: E!News with a tad bit of highlights mixed in. Remember even 5 years ago when it was only highlights and breaking news? -

HereticI've thought ESPN's news coverage has been a joke for some time. I prefer going to their's or Yahoo's websites for the simple reason that I can sift through the BS and find what I want to find instead of dealing with a bunch of crap I don't care about.

Mooney44CardsI avoid ESPN at all costs.
-
SageESPN has been a joke for awhile now.
I rarely watch any ESPN now, cept for their coverage of actual games. Read some of espn.com for some analysis.
Really though, I get all my sports news/most analysis from people I follow on Twitter. -
Curly JI have for years and not due to their 'anti-OSU' policy. Just beacuse it's been overdone. Worn out and tired act. (Sportscenter that is)
-
Con_AlmaI avoid TV at most costs. It's just TV. It's never been that good.

WebFireImagine that! Covering the hottest story going right now. Who do they think they are!?!

Mr. 300I'll watch PTI and ESPN News once in a while, but that's it. Only other time ESPN is on is when they are carrying a game.
-
ss7Whether you like ESPN or not, I don't think they have a choice. This has become big time national news and it's being covered by everyone. ESPN is not going to back off and be the one network not covering it. I don't think they are lowering themselves to TMZ levels. They're doing their job, like it or not.

Little DannyCombinations of the words "suck it" and "Tiger" are an interesting choice of words. I have a feeling the owner of the later told many to do the former!

NateESPN covers 5 things
1.Yankees
2.Red Sox
3.Tiger Woods
4.Patriots
5.Lakers -

Bullshit they're doing their jobs. Keeping count of how many women Tiger banged is fine--but making a big deal out of his mother-in-law going to the ER is not their job. That has nothing to do with anything.ss7 wrote: Whether you like ESPN or not, I don't think they have a choice. This has become big time national news and it's being covered by everyone. MLB out the ass
NBA
NFL
The SEC
Stories that shouldnt get as much coverage as they should.
I don't like ESPN at all. If I watch highlights, I watch FSN's Final score. -
ts1227Well MLB, NBA, NFL, and SEC make sense, because ESPN has contracts with those entities.
They used to cover NHL a lot, and pretend NASCAR didn't exist, now since they've lost the NHL contract and picked up NASCAR its the exact opposite. -
End of Line^^^^^True. I still wish NHL was on ESPN instead of VS (damn comcast).

ESPN's job is to report news. If none of this Tiger Woods shit was happening and just out of the blue his mother-in-law was rushed from his home to the hospital, they would report it because it is directly related to Tiger Woods, an athlete. They are a news station. It would be remiss for them to not report it when every other news station is. You know that every news network races to report the story and report it first....all they do is brag about who reported what and when.SQ_Crazies wrote:

Do I care about Tiger's mother-in-law? No, I don't...but it IS their job. -
SQ_CraziesNo it isn't. Covering HIM is their job. Not his mother-in-law.
-
ss7She is directly related to him, especially because this took place at his home.

jpake1ESPN is very very annoying, but it's the only thing. They need some new fucking shows. They don't need to play the same stuff 5 hours in a row. I wonder if these guys sometimes hate their jobs.
