Supplement Questions

  • baseball4
I am looking for some sort of supplement for working out. I want something that is that helps with weight loss/toning. I do not want to body build. I'm not looking to get huge. I just want to cut some weight and maybe get my athletic look back. I don't know a lot about these kind of things anymore. I used to take creatine when I was playing ball, but I don't think that's something that'd be necessary for what I want right now.

Anyone know of/take anything that you would recommend?

Um, if you just want to lose weight/get more toned you would probably be better off just getting the diet and working out part down first.

And creatine is only useful if you're lifting.

I want a supplement that will allow me to lose weight whilst I sit in my chair drinking beer.

    Meth.

I would suggest a small suppliment as they are easier to stick up your ass.

Edit : I thought this was a thread about suppositories :)

Agreed. Not that the OP said he desires to have them but there's a saying..."six pack abs start in the kitchen." Tighten up your eating and the rest will come. Nutrition is about 90% of the battle. No "wonder pill/supplement" will overcome a shitty diet.

Supplements are for pussies and people that are looking for an easy way out of the hard work.
    You're a moron.

No shit. Just like I could say "distance runners are anorexic little bearded clam snatches!"
  • I Wear Pants
Well that'd be dumb mostly for using the phrase "clam snatches".

    Yeah, kinda redundant.

Supplements aren't necessary and for the most part are a waste of money. The people that use them having nothing but anecdotal evidence that they actually work better than just eating a healthy, well balanced diet.

Well a lot of supplements (like protein) are things that you can get in a good diet. The thing about it is that it's much easier for me to drink 40g of protein sometimes than get that in a meal.

Yes that does work. But things like protein and creatine when used correctly can definietely help and don't make one lazy or a pussy.

Exactly. I think whey protein is one of the few that actually makes sense.

Yes it is. It is something you use to supplement your diet with added nutrition.

Apples and oranges. You're comparing running to hardcore weight lifting (which you don't do. )

Only supplement worth taking is Protein. Will help your muscles recover so you can have hard work outs each time.

I am 170 at age 38 and still look like a HS kid with his shirt off.

    You are 38 years old?

    Really??

You act like you are 12.....
  • OneBuckeye
All depends on what your goals are and what you have been doing. I think creatine is just as improtant for recovery as protien. However nothing can replace a good diet and sleep.

I'd also say creatine is a worthy supplement along with BCAA's to prevent muscle wasting.
  • I Wear Pants
    ^^^ This.

Things like creatine can help with recovery and such. But like anyone who knows what they're talking about will tell you the overall diet and your workout routine itself are far more important.
