Outdoor hockey....what a novel idea. If they really want to draw fans, hockey needs more naked chicks.gorocks99;803428 wrote: Would be the first major outdoor hockey game in Ohio.
Winner. -
Classyposter58Btw wouldn't it be great if the BlueJackets got good and they had Detroit vs Columbus in the Shoe? That'd be awesome to watch and so loud

ts1227Still 500 seats left on stubhub, most under $20 (and a nice chunk under $10).
Even the shittiest team in the NHL (CBJ) had less than 100 tix left a day before their game tonight on there. Is this going to be the first outdoor flop? -
bases_loadedFreezing cold and OSU sucked again. Starting goalie for OSU gave up 7 goals in 5 periods in two games
They look slow compared to UM. How are they ranked #2 in country? -
ts1227Attendance was 25,864... they were hoping for 30K (which still seems like a low expectation).
Congratulations Cleveland, for being the first place ever to develop shit interest in an outdoor hockey game.
Also, Shapiro said they've lost $ on Snow Days both years now, derp. -
wildcats20Did I hear the ESPN guy say that the Blue Jackets are going to host a game at the Shoe? Or was it a hypothetical?

Just a snide comment questioning why this UM-OSU game wasn't played at the Shoe.wildcats20;1054329 wrote:Did I hear the ESPN guy say that the Blue Jackets are going to host a game at the Shoe? Or was it a hypothetical? -

Cause the attendance woulda been even more embarassing in a 105,000 seater. Seriously though 25k:huh: That is absolutely awful, MSU-UM sold that many in the first hour I think last season. I don't care if it's a football stadium they played in last year, still if this thing was at Comerica it would of sold outSykotyk;1054343 wrote:Just a snide comment questioning why this UM-OSU game wasn't played at the Shoe. -
hoops23Cleveland doesn't care about hockey. There is no foundation there and no established fanbase...
Hell, Ohio as a whole doesn't care about hockey. -

A good portion of the Ohio hockey people I know of are either Redwing or Penguin fans. Maybe if the Bluejackets ever become good, people will watch them.hoops23;1054349 wrote: Hell, Ohio as a whole doesn't care about hockey. -
bases_loadedThe stadium holds 42k and they have the bleachers closed off for Snow Days. I'm guessing 30k would've been damn near a sellout. Plus they have it on a Sunday afternoon competing against nfl playoffs.

There is plenty of support for hockey in Ohio. Maybe not NHL since NHL since the BJ don't draw great and the Barons left. Ohio currently has three well supported minor league teams and a few well supported NCAA programs.hoops23;1054349 wrote:Cleveland doesn't care about hockey. Just plain stupid if ya ask me.
Hockey in Ohio.....Walley in Toledo..that arena is amazing. Its what Minor league parks is to MLB. Its just that nice. We went once and it was a sellout.
Gems in dayton dont draw for shit. It is in a hellhole of an arena in a bad area of town. Thy old team, the bombers, were at tne Nutter Center for quite along time and was decently well attended. -

Yeah hockey is pretty strong in this state in all honesty. It's not close to what it is in Michigan but it is a pretty big sport around here still. Just don't see the numbers on the youth level that are displayed up in Michigan although Toledo has solid numberssaid_aouita;1054350 wrote:A good portion of the Ohio hockey people I know of are either Redwing or Penguin fans.
