Getting a new phone in the next month

dlazzI'd just rock Cyanogenmod if I were you. Should fix all of your issues.
Also worth noting: It will come with absolutely nothing. It'll be stock android and that's about it. Should improve your battery life, though. -
Jawbreaker+1 for Cyanogenmod

I really like the Android OS and think it has a ton of potential, but it really does turn into a POS after a while. I don't know what it is, but the two Android phones I've owned both started getting frustratingly bad to use and bogged down after about a year of use.
I left Sprint and went to VZW for the iPhone and haven't looked back. Love the phone and how it never lags or hangs.
Plus, I get a cool 20% discount from my employer with VZW, so my iPhone bill is a flat $70 a month. -

Yeah, I'm just about at a year with the Evo. -

I went two years with a Hero which pissed me off to no end after about a year. It got to the point where I sometimes jsut wanted to punch the phone or throw it against the wall/ground.
Then I got an Evo and had it for about a year. When I got it, I loved it. Figured with the extra power it would handle the OS better than the shitty specs of the Hero did... I was wrong. A year in and the phone started crapping out as well.. It got so bad that when I got phone calls, the phone would hang for several seconds, not allowing me to answer the call. Nothing I tried worked and Sprint had no good suggestions either... I went back and forth with Sprint and finally I paid the ETF and left for VZW. -

Same thing with my droid 1. the phone would be ringing but it wouldnt let me answer. lately its just been completely locking up. and its had horrible lag ever i got the update about 2 updates ago. took it to verizon and they just said factory reset should fix it. well yeah, for about 10 minutes then was back to lagging. i want to just go throw my phone at the verizon rep for that advice. -
JawbreakerI think a lot has to do with the apps you load on the phone/tablet. Apple does a better job (sometimes too much) restricting bad applications from their market.

ohiobucks1My droid 2 is fine so far and its been a year and 2 months... let us pray make it 2 years

Commander of AwesomeWhen they released the iPhone 4 os for the 3G, my phone was basically a brick for about 3 weeks until they released a patch for the 3G. It was maddening. I understand completely hoops what a pain the ass that is. Just thinking about it is enough to piss me off.

That's surprising. The Droid 2 has been nothing but issues. -

Yup. I went through three of them before I caved and spent full price on a Droid Charge. -

iPhones are guilty of it too. You're basically carrying a mini Computer in your pocket. It'll slow down and do weird stuff over time. Factory Resets are the equivalent to formatting your computer.
If you factory reset and your device is still slow, you have a faulty handset.
