I was the first of my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and 1st cousins to get my bachelors degree. Had an aunt and uncle get an associates before me but I was the first to go to a four year school. -

Not necessarily. I was the first of my siblings to go to college. Was graduating high school as my sister was getting in to high school. She graduated college Saturday, and I am not close to getting my dregree yet.

When I was studying for the bar exam, I decided to stop shaving (the law equivalent of the playoff beard). It was not a good look for me. In fact, it was affirmatively a bad look. But I digress--the basic point is that I had a beard that made me look very different than I usually do.
The bar exam is composed of two days, each of which have two sessions that run a little over three hours. Most people are very pressed for time--the content itself isn't so hard, but completing everything within the 3 hours is really tough.
I work fast (queue jokes re Mrs. FFT and her disappointment with me). I finished all four sessions in under an hour each. A few people came up to me at various points and suggested that I take my time more and take it seriously, etc. But whatever--I work fast, and that's just how I roll. Of course, I found out later that I passed with flying colors and had room to spare.
Fast forward a few months. I had shaved and started working, so I looked completely different (fuzzy beard + jeans to clean shaven with a suit). I was at the swearing-in ceremony for the bar. We were standing in line to head into the Supreme Court chambers to be sworn in. The people in front of me in line were talking about the bar exam, and the topic came up about that crazy guy with a beard who didn't take the exam seriously. They were laughing about what a moron that guy was and how he clearly failed the bar. Apparently, they didn't recognize the clean-shaven and suited FFT. So I, of course, joined in and helped make fun of that crazy guy with the beard who probably failed the bar.
I would've pointed out to them that it was me, but two things: (1) this was a surreal, only-in-the-movies experience, and it was just too hilarious to let them keep going, and (2) they had just talked about how none of the three had jobs and were really worried about student loans, while I have a pretty solid job at a great firm. I just couldn't be heartless and ruin their fun (and essentially gloat), so I let it go.
Cool story, I know, but also 100% true.
Only you are bad ass enough for me to believe that this is true -

I did save a black guy (Shark that what I called him) from drowning in the BGSU old pool .. He and I where good friends in college. In Nam I was an honorary Soul Brother which most white guys could not be both. I think I was just a Soul Brother because I could roll a joint in 30 seconds and I owned a shot gun. As a kid my mom and I lived in the welfare system .. so I could have a little Democrat …………… -

This is why in Virginia you take the bar exam in court clothing (I didn't have to worry about it since I waived in) - they actually make you wear a freaking suit while taking an exam in Roanoke. -

I'm not saying you won't be the first to graduate in your family. Just saying that just because you are the first to go does not always mean that you are going to be the first to graduate. Just pray that nothing happens in your family that would cause you to delay your schooling. Don't do something stupid at a party or bar one weekend and jeopardize your standing in school. Don't knock up some chick and realize that you have to get a job now to support your child.
Like I said...not raining on your parade. But sometimes life happens and things don't work out as planned. -

When I was 15 I rode my skateboard down this hill at Burr Oak State Park. -
mcburg93I was in a bad wreck when i was 18 coming home from a football game and my friend that was driving died. I rolled a jeep once. I used to ski all the time but when a kid hit me and tore my knee completely up i havent skied since. I hooked up with one of my teachers i had in school after i moved back to town. I moved away for school for a few years and when i came back we hooked up at the local bar.

I thought it was called Burr Oak Lake. Only went there once, my sister's bf was from Glouster. It was bigger than Derby Downs in Akron, I rode that too. We're talkin late 70s. There was a bunch of guys I didn't know at the lake beach making bets on me wiping out or not. -
