Damn. One of the highlights of growing up was watching that syndicated Superstars show they had on Saturday mornings on days when they had Macho Man cut a promo. If you understand more than half the words, you were a god.

"And now Ricky Steamboat, I'm going to *mumblemumble* INTO THE SKY *grumblegrumble* COMPLETE AND UTTER DESTRUCTION OOOOOOOHHHHHH YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
  • Automatik
    MEGA POWERS!!!! Fucking unstoppable!!

    He was great.

The epic match against Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania III.

    The feud with Hogan.

The flying elbow, great finishing move.

What's sad is she is dead too. It seems like all of the wrestlers/valets I grew up watching are.

Randy was the GOAT. No doubt about it in my mind. I first saw him wrestle in the 80s. At the time my dad was stationed at an Air Force Base in Blytheville, Arkansas, just about an hour outside of Memphis, TN. I used to watch World Championship Wrestling out of Memphis on Saturday morning. Randy's father Angelo Poffo ran a small independent outfit out of Louisville. In what surmounted as to the first "invasion" angle, Savage jumped out into the ring and began to challenge Memphis hero Jerry Lawler. The promoter of the Memphis outfit came out with the police who attempt to arrest Savage. Savage would come back on the next week or so until eventually they had a match. About a year or so later, the Macho man moved on to the WWF where it took off from there.
