American Idol... the top 5 and elimination nite.

    Somewhat of an up and down nite as they sang two selections each.

    Round 1
    Haley and Jacob missed the mark , as Lauren and James gave solid performances.
    Scotty was the big winner, delivering a top shelf, bring down the house "Gone".

    Round 2
    James got emotional and a bit skreechy.
    Lauren sang a beautiful "Unchained Melody"...but wasn't anything new.
    Scotty got tender...the judges loved it. (it flopped for me)
    Jacob rallied with "Love Hurts"
    Haley hit the Home Run of the nite with "House of the Rising Sun" ( the ball hasn't landed yet)
    which got a standing ovation from nearly everyone in attendance.

    Jacob is probably going home.

    Yeah, hopefully Jacob is history. I liked James' 2nd song and I liked Haley's version of House of the Rising Sun. They were my 2 favorite performances of the night.

    I'm wondering if Haley's second song will save her from the Bottom 3.....

    I thought Scotty had the best overall night. He did a very good job on both songs.

    I have been somewhat of a Jacob fan since the beginning (I may be his only one on here), but he really hasn't gotten it. The last few weeks have not been good.

    Time for him to go.

    1. Jacob ... always sound like a church singer and just not connecting … anymore
    2. James ... sorry but no room for the emotional roller coaster (Jacob tried that and it didn't work) James has a great voice and very talented but sing more a scream less
    3. Lauren ... two average performances .. not going to win with just charm alone

    Haley: coming on strong and nailed the House of the Rising Sun… hugh save for her. She becoming more likeable..

    Scotty: he does what he does and people love it. Not the best voice but can sell the song.. In the end it all about the money … Scotty the money make

    James: OK performance. He is my dark horse to win this and didn't hurt his chances last night, didn't seem to go out of his way to help them either.

    Lauren: probably our winner this year. She will get votes from all the Taylor Swift, etc fans. Two pretty solid performances last night. She can bring it.

    Jacob: first song sucked. When I heard he was singing Love Hurts by Nazareth I was excited. That is a rock song from my era. Yeah. Then he turned it into a fucking Peabo Bryson song, I am again ashamed to have sat and watched the entire performance. You had a nice run dawg now please exit the stage.

    Scotty: I love this kid. Every seek he is told by the judges to do something other than country music, he says he will then comes out singing more country. Two solidbperformances last night. Again like Lauren he appeals to the voting public.

    Haley: rolled the dice on the GaGa song. Probably missed a lot of notes but gained some votes by once again singing a song the core group of voters want to hear. House of the Rising Sun, perfect!

    Bottom three:

    Jacob
    Hailey
    Scotty

    That is the order I predict in which they will be eliminated over the course of the next three weeks.

    Normally I'd ask for no spoilers, but I presume Jacob will be gone. He has a career in music, just not the type that I would pay for.

    Haley's performance of House of the Rising Sun will go down as one of Idols best performances. She totally nailed it. Scotty is an okay country singer but is boring and as each week goes by his cockiness is growing.

    I hope it's Jacob who gets the boot tonight. I like Scotty enough that if he stays I will be ok with it. I can't stand the way he holds the mic though and I do agree he is getting a little too cocky.

    Why is it that all the old men of the OC watch and chat about American Idol more than anyone else? SMH.

    I gave up on Idol two weeks ago. I was sticking with hit, then it just kept getting more and more boring. Now I watch the performances in FF on the DVR. Stopping when something looks interesting. I now watch the entire show in less than 20 minutes. Much better that way.

    American Idol has jumped the shark.

    Old men on the OC have jumped the shark. :D

    She's just 16 dude. Her mom looks just like her though. I am guessing mama is no more than 35.

    I commented last week whoever survives between Scotty or Lauren will have a great chance to win this whole thing due to infusion of votes from the other's fan base. This show is all about the voting block and right now they are splitting each other's vote. If I were betting between Scotty or Lauren to win it all I would go with Lauren simply for the comment another poster made above about the "Taylor Swift crowd" and simply because she is a better pure singer.

    Btw, I am guessing Lusk gets sent home to his boyfriend tonight.

    I hate country, I mean HATE it with a passion. There's only one country performance this season that has impressed me, and that was Lauren's Underwood song last night. Scott is horrible, period. I can give props when it's due in something I don't like, and Scott hasn't done anything.
