Are these those crazy Family Radio people? Saw a lady standing on the corner of High Street and Lane in Columbus that was screaming about how the world was going to end sometime on May 21st. I wonder what she's going to be doing the day after that.

Probably just hoping people forget that they said such things.

Westboro nuts protested Dr. Phillips high school in Orlando today. I don't know why. There were 2 adults and a 10 yr old boy there. Across the street there were HUNDREDS of anti-protesters, lol.

So according to the Dispatch, the Westboro group chose Darby to picked at because a Worthington Kilbourne class asked them to send a representative to speak to them and when they do to speak somewhere they also always choose a place to picked. I think the city of Hilliard and Hilliard City Schools should send the bill for any related expenses to Kilbourne's student council. Gee, thanks for sharing Kilbourne.

I agree. Love how WBC passed judgement on the student population at Darby without ever having met any of them.

As a Christian, I have to say that it's nut jobs like these that give the entire faith a bad name.

There are "nut jobs" in every walk of life on earth. It may give people who don't agree with, insert group/Religion, reason to mock and paint people with broad brushes but there is always going to be that. Doesn't affect me in the least.

I would contend that it affects your ability to witness, as it creates additional walls to tear down. Would you not agree?

No, I wouldn't agree in the sense that whether there are 2 walls or 3, 10 walls or 11 etc,etc I am still going to witness. It is my job to plant seeds and God's to grow them.

Naturally, you do what you can, but that doesn't mean that problems in the field don't affect the harvest of the seed you sow. Whether or not you reap, you (hopefully) desire each seed you sow to bear fruit. Something that inhibits that fruit-bearing, whether or not it is your job to deal with it, is still working against you, and if you have any passion whatsoever about your sowing, you ought to desire that such inhibitions be removed. It may not be your job to remove them, but they do affect the harvest for which you sow. For them to not bother you, you must have no passion about your job.

I do. Whether or not it is my job to deal with rocks and weeds, I wish for their removal so that they do not affect the harvest of what I sow.

We need to be doing what we can while we can and leave the results with God knowing that our labor is never in vain (1 Cor. 15:10, 58) and also knowing it has consequential implications on others. Some may be involved in the sowing, some in the watering, and others in the reaping, but God is at work bringing the increase according to His purposes (1 Cor. 3:6-7).

Not a student council request...rather, a Political Radicalism class. This class routinely askes speakers to come and address radical political or societal viewpoints...they have had groups like this before and others like the KKK, Aryan brotherhood, etc speak either in person or on a speakerphone.

This is a great class for hte intellectually curious who want to try and gain more knowledge of differing points of view. Doesn't mean the class is designed to 'convert' people...actually just the opposite. No verbal confrontations are allowed from the students, just questions and discourse.

Don't blame the staff at Worthington Kilbourne because those from this 'church' are loons.

Sorry wkfan, the course is part of Kilbourne so yes, the bill goes to WCS or Kilbourne Student Council. When I was in high school my school played Shelby in all sports. I was in the band. After our football game ended I walked to the band bus to realize paint was poured all over our buses. It was a warm night, we'd left windows open on the buses. Paint also went inside and ruined personal belongings of several band members. The Shelby HS Student Council had to pay to have our buses repainted. The student council, not the school district. That was fall of '73. I guess in your eyes, restitution shouldn't have had to be made - after all football games provide many great lessons.

Please help me understand how an individual act of vandalism correlates to a school curriculum asking a group to speak?

Of course restitution should have been made.....I just don't know why the actual purpetrators of the damage didn't pay for the damage? Did the Shelby student council members do the damage??? Was it even determined that Shelby HS students did this...and, if they did, why would the student council have been made to pay for it? If you really think about the 'crime'.....you would reach the conclusion that the those who should have been held accountable were not.

Please tell me how, logically, the Worthington Kilbourne student council should be held accountable for the actions of any Westboro members or for any expenses, if there are any, that result from their protest?

If WKHS students ASKED them to come then they should be "responsible." If WBC just showed up on their own, then so be it. However, inviting someone to an establishment that isn't yours to be inviting is just wrong.

    LOL....wut??

So your thought is that the adminstration at Worthington Kilbourne 'invited' Westboro to protest at Hilliard Darby??

No, Westboro decided to go to Hilliard Darby on their own.

I was referring to the post that said a class at WKHS invited them because they had invited KKK and neo nazis to listen to them. Maybe I mid-read that post.
