Best Country Song in the last 10 years?
-
Classyposter58IMO it's "In Color" by Jamey Johnson. I've prolly listened to it over a hundred times and it's a timeless song in my book
-
LJGeorge Strait- Troubador
-
rydawg5Keith Urban - You'll Think of Me (And I don't think anything comes close)
-
BCBulldogDuh...Taylor Swift - Love Song
Seriously though, no Keith Urban song should be in the discussion. I honestly don't even understand how he is classified as country even considering today's definition of country. -

I guess you classify as to what country music stations/billboards plays and ranks? I think that's the way to tell.. -

rydawg5We get it, you like Troubador. .. "Chill of an Early Fall" is one of Straits best IMO "how bout them cowgirls" for one of his newer ones.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't understand what about his sound classifies him as country. He is pop. Wimpy pop at that. -

Another great song..BCBulldog;724499 wrote:I understand what you are saying, but I don't understand what about his sound classifies him as country. He is pop. Wimpy pop at that.
Tracy Lawrence - Paint me a Birmingham -
OSHThis is a tough decision..."In Color" is definitely a good choice -- Jamey Johnson is trying to bring the outlaw country back, and doing a great job of it.
Cannot go wrong with ANY George Strait song, pretty much.
I am partial to several songs, mainly because I think they just tug at my heartstrings (some by Eric Church, Jason Aldean, and Justin Moore). But I also think "Sissy's Song" by Alan Jackson should be up there along with "Whiskey Lullaby." -
BCBulldogI always though that Whiskey Lullabye - Brad Paisley w/ Alison Krause was very good.
Edit: OSH, I hadn't read your post when I thought of this. Great minds, huh? Or something like that. -

Not even in my top 10.
1. I Cross My Heart (my wife and I's wedding song)
2. The Cowboy Rides Away
3. Baby Blue
4. Marina Del Rey
5. Cowboys Like Us
6. Lead On
7. Easy Come, Easy Go
8. You Can't Make A Heart Love Somebody
9. So Much Like My Dad
10. All My Ex's
But there are soooo many that could be equal and probably shuffle into my top 10 every other day. -

Absolutely good thinking.
I always wanted to marry Alison Krauss, I wouldn't mind if the angels had her voice. I could listen to it all day long (and night ) -

skankDon't forget 'when I get where I'm going' by Paisley....Great song. But MY fav Paisley song is mud on the tires. And his most recent, this is country music is great also.
Everything Jason Aldean does these days turn to gold, he's one of the better country singers of this era. -
OSHI have a hard time keeping "Baby's Gotten Good at Goodbye" and "Nobody In His Right Mind Would've Left Her" off my list, but I cannot think of what song I'd put them in over. They can be in there with "You Can't Make A Heart Love Somebody." It'll be 8a, 8b, and 8c.

I've said to my wife many times that she is on my "exception list" although it wouldn't be a physical affair (not that she isn't attractive), but an audible affair. I just want to hear her sing to me constantly. My wife is totally cool with that and said she may want to get in on that fantasy, too. -

Replace Dolly with Alison and it would be my favorite. I just am not a big fan of Dolly's sound. My favorite song of Paisley's is one that never had a radio play - Little Moments. There's just something about that song that struck a chord with me.
I definitely like Aldean. He brings a rock and roll style and sound that is missing in much of today's popular music. Is he true country? Maybe not, but I do enjoy his stuff. Same with The Zach Brown Band. -

slide22Toby Keith & Willie Nelson - Beer for my Horses
Brad Paisley & Alison Krause- Whiskey Lullabye
Pretty much any George Straight song . -
skankSpeaking of Allison Krauss, two GREAT vocals are her cover of Keith Whitleys 'when you say nothing at all' and her duet with Marty, (last name escapes me) of shenandoah, 'somewhere in the vicinity of the heart'.
