    The cop should be fired..period.

    yup

Stuff like this wouldn't happen if she was in the kitchen. Just sayin.

Cop was wrong on every decision he made and action he took. He should be suspended WO pay and maybe even fired. That was excessive from the start to the end.

And this is the correct answer folks

I don't understand why the cop needed to hit the guy with no warning when he was just standing there or why after the guy put his hands up the cop needed to continue hitting him. Or why when the dude was on the ground the cop needed to continue hitting him.

yes, a good woman could not be in a fight unless her man was beating her for bad eggs.

LOL at ccrunner. That's all I have to say about that.

Now, is it just me, or is that cop dark skinned? Beating on white people? We all know what would be going down if that was reversed!

I am just amazed that no cops came on the scene and tried to confiscate the video. I have seen a lot of those videos where the cops try to take the cameras of bystanders away. Of course, that may have come later.

Yes, 2 black cops and a bunch of white citizens

They may not have seen it. It seemed like everyone was paying attention to the scene, so the video could have been overlooked, especially if it was a camera phone or one of those flip cameras.

And in Georgia. Get an all black jury and be acquitted, case closed just like the first half of the 20th century.

Actually, it'll probably be heavily white, and the book will be thrown at him (which is what should happen)

They are in Savannah, GA, there's a nice mix of black/white. Plus, it looks like two black cops against two or three white citizens...with a mixed crowd looking on.

I don't see how anyone can look at the vid and justify the actions of the police officer. Especially on the male detainee. Plus, here's my thing...if you're strong enough to drag a chick (who's drunk as a skunk and probably blind from the pepper spray) by her waistband, then you're strong enough to put the cuffs on her while she's standing and WALK her to the police car. What's the point of slamming her to the ground? She's no longer fighting you.

We've all seen cops arrest drunk people in public, it doesn't take that kinda force to bring someone down...especially a woman of that size. Get real.

    This x100.

I have a bigger issue with the way he treated the woman than the man.

On a side note...Savannah, GA is awesome...it's top 3 places I've ever been, just behind Vegas and N'Owleans

Obey the police and this wont happen. They got what they deserved. I agree that the woman should've been home preparing food and sex for her drunk husband.

I'm sure this has not been your experience.

They got what they deserved?? Yeah, right. It takes a pretty big man to drag around a women half his size, and slam her to the ground.

Seriously? So if two people are fighting in a street, you think it's fine for cops to shoot them if they think it necessary?

Here's middle school thinking: If you break the rules, then you get what's coming to you, no matter what happens. If you don't like it, then don't break the rules.

Here's grown-up thinking: If you break the rules, you're going to get punished, but the person doing the punishing doesn't have carte blanche to do whatever they want with no restrictions to bring the situation under control. Because the government exercises a monopoly on physical violence, the government must be held to a high standard of being reasonable in those circumstances.

The law is pretty clear that the force in a situation like this must be justifiable and reasonable, despite what the gym teacher thinks.

In some states, it's legal for the citizens for videotape, and the cops can't take those tapes away. No idea if it that's the law in GA.

I didn't see SVF's comment until FFT just quoted it, but who is justfying the people fighting?

Again, once the girl was sprayed, she was no threat. She was wandering around dazed and probably couldn't see. He then slams her to the ground. Not justified.

Exactly what I posted last night, I am glad that we agree on this situation.

I asked him that last night on page 2, still haven't received an answer.

Pretty excessive on most of the parts. I hope the cop is looking for another job immediately.
  • Glory Days
back in the good ole days you got your beat down, shook hands with the cop, rehashed the fight together and had some laughs, then went on your way, no harm no foul.....atleast thats what i am told haha. but they also used to walk up hill both ways too then.
