Fuck. There goes Wisky and Minnesota from the WCHA. Maybe we will pick up Miami and Notre Dame.

Yep. Gonna be a huge change.

I hope Miami is able to get out of the CCHA.

Yeah, not a fan. But, if the CCHA can merge with some of the WCHA, that would be cool.

I doubt Notre Dame bolts for the WCHA. Travel to St.Cloud, Denver, UAA, etc is a main reason why Wisky and Minny would leave. This will hurt the WCHA unless hockey continues to grow in Colorado and the west. Figure Air Force will join, don't know who else would be willing to step up.
  • Tiger2003
I know the WCHA will look for 2 teams. They wont just take one. This same thing happened when Nebraska-Omaha and Bemijdi St joined the WCHA.

Well if Michigan Tech can afford the trip to Alaska every two years I am sure Wisconsin and Minnesota don't have that problem.

Bemidji St upsets Minnesota-Duluth 3-2 in overtime of the first Quarterfinal. BSU will play Denver in the 1st Semi Final.

Miami is beating down ND 4-0 in the semis right now after 1. They will get the winner of Western Michigan vs Michigan later tonight.

Didn't know they had hockey in college. That's why I enjoy the OC you learn something new everyday.

Denver beat Bemidji St in the first Semi-Final.

The Sioux are currently tied 1-1 at the first intermission with Colorado College.

Big BG fan here, but don't get to follow them as much as I'd like to.

Sioux win 4-3 in a crazy ass game. Matt Frattin made the game winning goal with about 4 minutes of play. The Sioux got called for a penalty and CC had a 6 on 4 advantage for the last 2 minutes of the game.

Sioux will face Denver in the Finals tomorrow at 7.

    Go Sioux!!!!

Sioux Win Sioux Win in Double OT 3-2 over Denver!!! Wow what a game!! Denver jumped out a 1-0 lead and held the lead into the 1st Intermission. The Pioneers out shot the Sioux 11-3 in the 1st. The Sioux came out in the 2nd period and were on the attack. They tied the game at 1-1 then a few minutes later took the lead 2-1. Denver has some great chances in the 2nd Period but Dell who is a Soph and all WCHA and the top goaltender in College hockey kept racking up saves. The Sioux led 2-1 at the 2nd Intermission. All through out the 3rd the Sioux kept up the attack but so did Denver. With about 2 minutes to play Denver scored making 2-2. The fun is just beginning. In the first OT it was all about goaltending and a little of luck. Hobey Baker finalist Matt Frattin hit the cross bar early in the first OT. Denver had their chances as well but Dell was just to strong between the pipes. After an additional 20 minutes of play we still had no winner! 5 minutes into the 2nd overtime Matt Frattin found the back of the net, scoring his NCAA leading 35th goal. Then the Hobey Baker chants started and the Sioux celebrated the win!! The Broadmooe Trophy is coming back to Grand Forks for the 2nd year in a row.

    Go Sioux!!!

Nice w for hackstol and the Sioux. Should lock up #1 in the krach rating band top seed in the NCAA.

Congrats to the Miami Redhawks on their first CCHA Tournament Championship!
  • Tiger2003
The Sioux are the #1 seed in the MidWest Region and will play RPI in their first game. Denver and Western Michigan is also in the MidWest Region. The Sioux are the #2 overall Seed.

    Go Sioux!!

    The Bracket:

    East Regional (Bridgeport, CT):
    (1) Yale vs Air Force
    Union vs UM-Duluth

    Northeast Regional (Manchester, NH):
    Merrimack vs Notre Dame
    (4) Miami vs New Hampshire

    West Regional (St Louis, MO):
    (3) Boston College vs Colorado College
    Michigan vs UN-Omaha

    Midwest Regional (Green Bay, WI):
    Denver vs Western Michigan
    (2) North Dakota vs Rensselaer

Guessing we'll see a rematch of the WCHA title game in Green Bay, BC vs Michigan in St Louis. Miami got screwed having to play UNH in Manchester. Yale should dominate their regional.
  • Tiger2003
Yah I definitely dont like the chances of the Sioux having to play Denver again. But then again Denver play their best game of the year while the Sioux looked sluggish all game and we still won!!!!!! I can't wait to get to Wisconsin.

    Go Sioux!!!!

I feel like Miami stole the #4 seed by winning the CCHA. They have a pretty solid shot at making it to the frozen four 3 years in a row. They are 1-1 vs UNH this year (6-3 and 3-6). I don't expect them to run through their region, but both games are winnable imo. I don't know much about Merrimack, but Miami seems to have Notre Dame's number this season.

Dream scenario for Miami would be to get to the national title game, and to play BC and get their revenge that has been due for about 6 years now. I believe Miami is 0-4/0-5 vs BC in the NCAA tourney smh.
  • gorocks99
Merrimack has been pretty good this year. Went 16-8-3 in Hockey East and 25-9-4 overall. 2-2 against BC, 3-1 against UNH. Not a great away team though.
  • purple_rein
Can any of the diehards out there explain why BC is going to St. Louis and Miami is going to New Hampshire? Seems backwards to me.

Big Ten Hockey, officially coming in 2013-2014: http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/blogs/118373629.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUgOy9cP3DieyckcUsI

Teams will play a 20-game conference schedule, playing each other team 4 times. Means each team will have room for ~15 non-conference games on the schedule. My guess is Minnesota will keep ties to Mankato, SCSU, NoDak and UMD by playing each year in non-con.
