I just bought one of the rarest Alstott cards ever!

  • MANAZE
Its the blue Super Bowl XXXVII card at the bottom of the first pic third card over! I can't wait till this gets home!

The person was selling the lot and I asked them just to sell me the Alstott Super Bowl 37 pylon!

I have a decent amount of Alstott cards and this has been one I've been after since I first saw it about three years ago! I've only seen it listed one other time on ebay and that bidding went beyond my price range at the time!

I'm sure I'm not the only card collector on here.

Mike Alstott...really?!? If I didn't know better I'd think it was a Jordan rookie or something.

    That's cool, though.

What's that thing worth? 25 cents?

Dude was probably selling the lot for $5 and was happy to take $1 for the Alstott alone.

    They still make cards?

Manaze, you're going to get destroyed for this most likely you realize that right? People are stupid--funny thing is the biggest hobby of most of the people that will make fun of you is probably masturbation.

I get where he's coming from. Reminds me of the special edition Chet Lemon I picked up at a flea market.

    Say what?!?!

Hey, man, I'll tip my hat to it. I'm not into cards, but I collect vinyl/am a general music nerd. And I know the feeling when I get really pumped about something that others can't relate to all the time. So, ummm....well done on the Alstott, bro.

What is the value of a card like that?

I've got a Brady Quinn rookie card. It's not worth a thing but its fun to laugh at.

Everyone collects cards... when they're fuckin 6.

Nah I can't say nothing. I collect Club Logo golf balls from wherever I play on vacation.

Used to collect cards until the prices got so outrageous like they are...and now cards are pretty much worthless b/c you don't have a lot of people in it like before. The mass producing of the cards in the early 90's really killed this hobby IMO.

I didn't even know people still collected cards, but good to see.

I have been doing some trading of all the old cards I have, and getting buckeye football players to add to my "man cave" I'm going to put them on the coffee table and put glass over them.

This. I was also a collector back in the day until the bottom fell out of the market and they lost all value. I collected when I was younger in hopes that one day in the future they would appreciate value and I would be able to sell a few of them to make a few extra bucks and maybe I'd hit gold with a few of the cards. The only problem is that there are so many card companies now, they are putting out so many series each year, and (not so much anymore) there are so many collectors. The demand just isn't there anymore. I know a guy who owns a card shop and he said that 10 years ago he made a killing off cards. Now he said that all his income comes from other merchandise in the store. He said he still sells cards but not nearly like he used to and that the value of the cards hasn't changed in the last 10 years and that if it has, it's gone down.

When I get the card in my hands I'll talk about the value and everything but until then I don't want to jinx myself.
