Dating age … acceptable discrepancy

  • Belly35
What is your acceptable age different that you are comfortable with?
How old are you and the age range (plus or minus) of your dating habits?

im 24... i would date someone 2ish years younger and maybe 10-11 years older.... my only concern about dating someone in their 30's is they might be super ready to settle down and have me barefoot in the kitchen with a baby on my hip... no thanks :)

ps I dont know why i quoted... my bad.

My girlfriend is a few years younger than me. I just think it comes down to maturity level. She's 21, but is very intelligent and we get along very well. We have fun together. The biggest roadblock we have is when she goes out with her friends that are not of a legal age to drink and I refuse to hang out with people that drink that are not legal.(She has a lot of friends that are still 20). On those nights, I just go out with my friends. Another thing that comes up is that she gets reflective and thinks about the things she's yet to do and that I've already done. I tell a story and she wishes she could do something like that, and she can, and this hasn't come up in a while. Be that as it may, we are very happy together and have been for over 6 months now.

I'm 28..my wife is 33. I think 5 years more or less would be the max I would have gone.

If I were 'dating' I would likely stick to a range -4 to +10. I am 26, soon to be 27.

My fiancee is 7+ years younger than me (I am 34) ... works out well. She is mature, and I sewed my oats, finally ready to settle down. It is also a lot different here in New York, seems like most of the city is single, with people in their 40s regularly at swanky singles clubs (thanks to Sex and the City, I suppose). People rarely marry at early ages in New York.

When I was in HS I only went out with younger girls, only dated one girl that was in my grade.

When I got to college I only dated one younger girl, all the rest were older (some 3+ years older).

Now I'm married and my wife is all of 6 months older.

I'm 30 right now, if I was a single guy right now (I don't want to be, am happily married) I couldn't date anyone under about 24ish, maybe 23. I also couldn't date anyone in their 40s as thats only a "few" years younger than my MOM.

I am 33 and my wife is 40. We've been married 8 years.

I'm 32, and my gf and the last few girls i've dated have all been 24. That age difference works out great for me. Much older and the girls seem to want to settle down immediately, plus the older single girls seem to be much more negative and pessimistic. Prior to this past summer most of the girls I dated were around my age, and it never worked...

So I guess my age range would be -6 to -10.

I'm 29. I would probably date down to 23-24 at the most. As was brought up earlier, if you go too young, there's typically a time in there life when they want to make up for what they didn't do when they were younger because they were in a relationship. I probably wouldn't date more than a year or 2 older than me.

I'd go +20 or so(gotta love them Cougars). can't date younger. Most of them aren't mature enough to deal with stuff.

I am 9 years older than my husband.

34 year old guy here...dated as young as 23/24 recently...as long as they have their life together it has worked for awhile...dated older girls that havent had it together too

I'm 31, guy I've been with for almost a year is 23. Never in a million years would I have dated someone that young, but I didn't realize he was when we met, and I wasn't looking to date anyone anyways. Before accidentally finding the most amazing guy ever, I would have said -2 to +10.

My girlfriend is 11 years younger than me. I knew her for two years before we ever went out and never even really considered dating her because of our age difference and the fact that she is much much hotter than me.

Dated several 18-19s when I was 31-32 and also dated a few in the 40-42 range around the same time.

Went out a couple times with a woman who was 47 when I was 19, just for the sake of the story (and the fact that all the other dudes at work said it would be worth it - it was). Ha ha, wonder if she's still going at like 63 now?

Now married at soon-to-be 36 and the wife is 8+ years younger (started dating when we were 33/24).

Me....I'm a couple weeks from hitting 36 (whenever D12 is). Overall, the whole age thing doesn't really factor in. There was a 15-year difference between my parents (who married and had me at an older-than-average age, at least for my dad), so I don't feel some sort of "taboo" about hooking up with someone just because they're "x" years off my age.

Most people would look at me as chronically unreliable as far as things like "having shit together" and "being responsible", which likely also plays a role in things. Right now, as far as things like relations go, I'm not thinking about anything farther ahead than the immediate future, so it's not like I'm looking at a person's age as some "whoa, they're so young/old that we wouldn't be that good of a long-term fit!" sort of thing.

My husband acts like he's 12. Does that count?

i was strict about a +/-2 year window, but the last time i dated i was 18, so there was legalities to worry about.

My wife would say the same about me.

I always dated younger-my wife is 4 years younger than me.

I'm 35 and have girls of all ages after me. As low as 18 and high as 52. The one determining factor is their personality. I've found that some 20 year olds have a better personality then some 30 year olds. Some 20 year olds are more mature than some 40 year olds. Point blank, age doesn't matter. If you are only comfortable with dating + or - 2 years, then so be it. To each their own.

I'm 23 and have never really dated someone terribly younger than me. But after the last one, I am not dating someone 20 or younger, at least for awhile. Too immature and complain when I go some place they can't yet. I would go older but probably not more than 4-5 years.

I am 24 and my most recent ex is 31. I also have a very large crush on a guest at the hotel I work at and he is 37. I would honestly have no problem dating him but he has a crazy ex wife and a kid...so no thanks. As far as younger...I'd say no younger than 22 at this point. Boys are always more immature as it is.
