Favorite Hair Metal Band
-
darbypitcher22Since I'm constantly informed that Hair Metal is not real metal, but its a genre of music I like to listen to, I thought I'd give it its own thread.
I thought that the 80s scene was a great time for music and produced some great bands and songs out of that Sunset Strip/L.A. scene, bands that are still producing music to this day and still on the road performing and doing what they love to do and they're still entertaining.
Some of my favorites:
Poison
RATT
Warrant
Motley Crue
Def Leppard
Whitesnake
Winger
Firehouse
Any other fans out there? -
ernest_t_bassGNR
Def Leppard
Poison -
charliehustle14Skid Row and Motley Crue
Don't really care for the rest of it. -

I still have all those guys on my iPod...with the exception of Whitesnake. For some reason, they never really did it for me.darbypitcher22 wrote: Since I'm constantly informed that Hair Metal is not real metal, but its a genre of music I like to listen to, I thought I'd give it its own thread.

charliehustle14If were including GnR in this, then I'd have to add them. Even though I've never considered them hair metal. More just hard rock/punk/heavy metal.
-
GoChiefsI'm in the minority..I've never actually liked GnR.
-
tigerballonlineNo doubt Nirvana put an end to rock as it was known in the 80's and early 90's.
-
darbypitcher22That whole grunge scene killed hair metal, which has had a revival since the late 90's early 2000's, some of the topgrossing tours each sumemr
-
GoChiefsThat's because some of us can't let go of our past.
-
darbypitcher22which is a totally great thing
-
Strapping Young LadGod love Nirvana!!! They killed the worst music (hair metal) in history of rock and brought the second coming of the best (punk)...
G'n'R was NOT hair metal.... -
darbypitcher22Fuck Nirvana.
-
GoChiefs
I'll second that. Never really could get into them. Of course..I never felt like killing myself either. And that's all there music ever made me think of.darbypitcher22 wrote: Fuck Nirvana. -
charliehustle14Ha, Darby, although Nirvana had a lot to do with it, the entire grunge scene contributed to the collective death of hair metal. Hair metal had to die sometime. People tend to think grunge was basically a bunch of sad dudes who couldn't play their instruments right....but there's a hell of a lot of talent from that era (Grohl, Cobain, Cantrell, Staley, Inez, Veder, Cornell, Arm, The Melvins, etc.) So at least you can live with the fact that hair metal was killed by a troupe of some very talented bands and musicians.

I'll 3rd it....motion carried. All those in favor say Aye.darbypitcher22 wrote: Fuck Nirvana. -
darbypitcher22That grunge stuff just wasn't fun to listen to... just really morose all of the time
-
charliehustle14A lot of the grunge bands were very punk driven. Like with Nirvana, you'd be surprised to find that they did a lot more aggressive punk songs than the melancholy, depressing songs people typically associate with them. Of course those songs never made it to the radio.
