  In my mind, a movie with two hours of Sandra Bullock trumps any shortcomings that the movie may have. The people I know who have seen it are all pretty excited about it and recommended it to us highly. Just out of curiosity, what are the issues that make the film a negative experience for some who have posted about this??

  My wife and I saw it this past weekend and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Plus I also found Sandra Bullock an absolute pleasure to look at which normally I can take her with a grain of salt. On a side note, I lived two years in the Memphis area years ago. I agree Ms Bullock pulled off a southern woman very well and I could see where an Oscar nomination might be considered.

  When you get done watching this movie, think back on how easily things could have been different for this young man, the what ifs, like, what if this happened or what if that happened, this story could have been very different, and very bad. (I don't want to give anything away).

  I really don't see what people say are weird about it. I would especially like to hear Upper's opinion on what he didn't like about the story.

  So, essentially what you're saying is that something about Michael Oher's true-life story strikes a chord with you that makes you feel uncomfortable? Your opinion of the film then isn't based on artistic merit or entertainment value, but rather the fact that something that has happened to this man doesn't sit well with you?
  
  Not criticizing or poking fun, just legitimately trying to understand to see if I'm reading correctly between the lines.
  
  I haven't seen the film yet, personally, but plan on doing so sometime in the near future.

  Really enjoyed the movie. I remember reading a feature story in Readers Digest a few years back about this same kid. What a wonderful situation he fell into.

  Yeah, it's not the film, in and of itself, more the entire Oher story....though, for me, some of the (IMO), juvenile and played out/unrealistic ways that race relations were portrayed in the film didn't help the film's credit. However, I do understand that the film was just doing the best with the story as it was presented.
