Is Bud Light the best beer in the world?

  • bigdaddy2003
I don't have a beef with anyone drinking light beer. I just find that light beer lacks the taste of a heavy beer.

If I'm grilling a nice steak, I'll pick up a 6 pack of a higher quality beer to match my high quality steak.
i dont think their unpopular...in fact i think they probably sell more of those than other beers.....but i have no data just a hunch
My numbers are probably a little outdated, but I think Bud/Bud products make up around 50% of the market, MillerCoors around 20-25%, and the rest is divided between craft breweries (Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, etc) and imports.

lol no doubt. A couple weeks ago I walked into a bar and the first thing I noticed was this guy drinking a wine cooler. Had to laugh.

Bud Light is my least favorite beer. It taste good, don't get me wrong. But I NEVER buy it. I'll spend 2-3 bucks cheaper and go with Busch or I'll spend 2-3 bucks more and get Sam Adams.

I only said 'unpopular beers to be cool' because of the OP. I like craft and microbrews a lot.

Not a fan of Bud Light at all. Now if someone offers me a free one, then I'm a fan.

Bud Light, i find, is like a default beer for most people and it is for me too. I don't drink expensive or "unknown" beer to sound cool, I have a few kinds of beer that I drink when I can get it because I like the taste. I prefer dark beers/full flavored beer over light colored beer, or light beer every single time. Now do I drink BL? Of course. Especially if I go to a party or game or whatnot and that's what is there. What makes BL so popular is that all those things the OP listed make a LOT of people able to drink it. It's got a mass appeal; meaning that it might not be everyone's first choice when they want to drink, but if someone makes a beer run and comes back with a 24pack of BL nobody's going to be disappointed. If I'm buying beer for myself to drink to enjoy, I'm buying Guinness/Killians/Sam Adams, but if for whatever reason I can't get those beers or someone I'm with is buying beer, then BL is always the recommended fallback because we know pretty much everyone likes it.

    Well said.

Bud over Bud Light, but PBR over both.

Bud light is incredibly overpriced. If I'm going to drink shitty beer I'll just drink PBR.
  • bigdaddy2003
    Ha PBR isn't shitty.

I love PBR. I just don't like calling it something it isn't.

PBR is the best cheap beer. It isn't a great beer, but it's the best cheap one.

So you're saying it's like winning the PAC-10 in football? :)

I can honestly say that I've tried close to 100 beers. (There is a bar in Bowling Green that has something like 200+ beers from all over the world) Besides Coors Light and Miller Light, I haven't had a beer that I 100% did not like. It's funny though because Coors Heavy is actually really good.

I'm not too partial with beer. If I go to a restaurant that has some special import, I'll try it over something domestic. On an everyday basis, my choice is Bud Light. However, my top 5 of all time are.

    1. Corona Extra
    2. Sam Adams (Doesn't Matter)
    3. Bud Light
    4. Anything Negra Modelo
    5. Tie between a couple different Ales and Lagers I've had from Irish Pubs

Nati, Busch, PBR are all decent, but I can't see myself buying or drinking them anymore since I'm out of college.
