Some of the stuff I remember seeing at prom was really risque. I don't see why kids have a problem keeping it clean for 2 or 3 hours or however long you're there. You can still have great time and not be dry humping somebody all over the dance floor
Exactly

Seems like a place called "Licking Valley" would have bigger things to worry about than some questionable dancing ...
I lol'd...then lol'd again about 5 minutes later just thinking about it. Currently stifling a chuckle still.

Newark, Ohio, doing something that seems backwards and retarded to the rest of the world? The hell you say! What else, is the sky blue?
These 3 posts in a row may go down in history as the best 3 post link EVER. One with very good common sense, another with great sarcastic "so obvious but still needs to be said" humor, and a third that just sums up the entire article the thread is about. I applaud the 3 of you.

I graduated high school in 2005. I have a sister who is a senior right now. I know exactly what is going on.
It's how they dance, don't have the dance if you don't want to them to do it. These people setting these rules went through the same shit when they were younger and were part of a generation that, as I said, either pushed the perversion or stand by and let it happen. Now they want to bitch? Hypocrites.
This then went the opposite direction with being one of the least thought out and least intelligent posts I have ever read. Many of the people who are involved in this decision were likely NOT "pushing the perversion" when they were that age and werent "standing by letting it happen". Many of them were likely avoiding it because it wasnt what they felt was appropriate, but as kids, they werent able to do anything about it. Most of them, like myself at that age, just decided not to go to the dances because it was ridiculous to watch. And the argument of "thats how they dance" so it must be OK...are you serious? So "thats how rapists get sex" so it must be OK? The arguement of "Thats just the way it is" is one of the worst ways to ever try to justify anything. That type of dancing and that mentality may be why you can go to just about any high school in America and find a handful of teenage moms, or soon to be moms. The high school my niece is at currently has 5 pregnant teenagers. Maybe we should stop promoting promiscuous behavior (and yes, grinding is part of that).
Oh...and as soon as the decide to "not have a dance", some kids mommy will call a lawyer and say that her child's high school experience is being ruined by the school for not having prom. Keep in mind the same mom will blame the school when her kid gets knocked up on prom night.

Big Time over reaction by the LV school board here. The kids are being chaperoned at school dances. They will push these kids to avoid the school dances entirely and just go do their own thing. I do believe this is a generation issue. Dont bring the "sexting" thing up either. This is not that different from the original Dirty Dancing, as the original poster mentioned. We all realized how stupid that school system seemed. LV needs to get their heads out of the barns and into 2010.
First of all...Dirty Dancing wasn't at a school, Footloose was. I apparantly miised the memo that said since it is 2010, all morals and values go out the window. The demoralization of America is in full force if a school is getting criticized for not allowing kids to practice behaviors that are immoral and could lead to much worse things. but hey, as long as we all have health care...
