    Wow...

I honestly don't think I even knew what suicide was when I was six years old.

Why can't it be our "favorite freshman" who does this, instead of some senseless act like this?
  • pepperpot

So sad. I have a 6 and 3 year old. I don't think my 6 year old would have any clue how to commit suicide. Hard to imagine him wanting to anyway. That might be the saddest part.

that's really scary. What a tragic loss.

It is a sad story with a more sad ending. The fact the family would consider it an accident and the med examiner wants it classified as a suicide is ridiculous. The young life has been lost. The med examiner is just making this families miseries worse.

    Crushing story to read.

Doesn't matter. A ruling is still needed.

OMG that is horrible! I also can't imagine even understanding what that meant at that age. A terrible thing.

I agree. No way that a 6 year old understands that action at all. So sad to hear.

I bet she doesn't do that again. Honestly though that is sad. I feel bad for her parents.

Um so the kid accidentally tied a belt around her neck then tied the other end to a old crib. SOunds like an accident to me.

I think it could be described as accidental ONLY because a 6 year old doesn't understand the concept of suicide much less the finality of it.

Technically, the most logical thing to classify it would be a suicide. Smudging rulings, even for this case, is a slippery slope that the medical profession cannot start sliding down.

    Very tragic at any rate.

I could see that if she didnt scream "I am going to kill myself" before she was sent to her room. She knew what the whole belt thing entitled.
