I'm so disappointed that I wasn't able to do that Census job. I was going to get to work with homeless people.

I didn't miss any on the test.

I couldn't do it because I had a court date during the job training and neither could be moved.

saw on the news the other day that a little more than 50% have been returned so far.

Won't they just catch you on the live censu when they come to your place instead of mailing you a form?
  • Scarlet_Buckeye
Do you HAVE to fill out the form and return it? What happens if you don't?

    the website is www.census.gov

Honestly why would you not fill it out? It will take you all of 5 minutes tops to fill the whole thing out and drop it in the mail, and if you don't fill it out someone will eventually show up at your door to collect the info. And they will keep showing up until they do. It's not just some random thing the government does, as a citizen or resident of the US you are legally obligated to be counted.

It's because the constitution says that..... oh wait, the constitution says that congress gets to count whatever they want

Well they don't need my... wait you are saying that I give the government more personal info on my taxes than I will for the census?

    Screw the government!

Here's the thing: I received mine in the mail on St. Patrick's Day. I filled it out that night, and as predicted, it's still sitting on the floor waiting to be mailed back. It says fill it out as of April 1st. Well, as of April 1st, my two other roommates and I will be living in an apartment together. As of April 30th, I will be moving back home 50 miles away, one is moving to new york, and the other is moving in with his girlfriend in a different city. So it's like we're telling the government three people live here but within a few weeks, we wont be living there.

P.S. they can send people to the door all they want. Between work and school and social lives, hardly any of us are ever there. The person would have to be lucky to find the right two-hour time frame of the day to show up and have one of us be there and not asleep.

Really, what can they do to you if you dont fill it out?
