Get ready for more "intimate" TSA screenings

How long before we all just strip down to our underwear to go through airport security? -
SportsAndLadyThis is one thing that's never really bothered me. I don't mind extra precautions to insure there's no funny business on my flight.
-
justincredibleBut they are getting more aggressive because they've failed at their main duty. It doesn't bother you that they have been horrible at their job and are going to, in essence, take it out on the rest of us?

rocketalumYea somebody who would be working for McDonalds if the TSA didn't exist patting down my junk makes me feel so much safer. An entire agency build on the illusion of safety. If we're looking to take a hatchet to the budget I'd be much happier starting here than the EPA or NEA.

They aren't gonna fuck me in the ass with a flashlight in order to board my plane. If I have to get patted down, it is what it is. That doesn't bother me.justincredible;1839880 wrote:But they are getting more aggressive because they've failed at their main duty. justincredibleWhat happens when they find out that these new procedures are completely ineffective? Will you accept more invasive measures?

ZunardoI don't mind the screening, but I cannot abide the idiocy of how each local facility does things different.
I flew in 2010 for a 2-day business meeting in Oklahoma - got to the airport at 5 AM, wore a suit with both a belt and suspenders just to give me an option on the second day. Before I go thru the X-ray machine, the TSA guy in Columbus says, "please remove your belt" - no problem. Then the guy says, "I need you to remove your suspenders,", and I said "Absolutely not. I'm keeping something on to hold my pants up."
TSA: "If you don't, I'll have to wand you."
Me: "Wand me."
TSA: "Would you like to have it done in a booth for privacy?"
Me: "Hell no. Do it out here where everyone can see. But I am keeping my suspenders on."
And that's how it went. And my suspenders never came off. When I got ready to come back, the OK staff let me keep my belt and suspenders and just go thru the machine. -
iclfan2I do mind the screening. Unless you are going to profile based on background, looking nervous, etc (not saying necessarily race or religion), it is stupid. Random testing isn't gonna find anything. Patting down old women and children accomplishes nothing, not to mention the TSA are a bunch of shitty people in the first place. Not only that, but when I flew from Paris to USA I didn't take shoes off, didn't take liquids out, etc so other countries don't find the need for these extra precautions.
I had to get extra patted down in the private room before in CAK and they can fuck themselves. -

It's not just a pat down though. I normally have TSA Precheck so I avoid all the bullshit, but recently coming thru customs and reentering the airport they didn't offer Precheck. Apparently I moved my hands in the machine and thus they needed to perform their "pat down" on me. The dude def inspected inside the waist and up the crotch. His hands definitely swiped my junk a couple times and I was not too pleased. Maybe I just got some fucked up TSA agent, but I have heard stories like this before. I can't imagine how much further they can take this.SportsAndLady;1839891 wrote:They aren't gonna fuck me in the ass with a flashlight in order to board my plane. My problem with TSA it is all a dog and pony show. 9/10 I get away with not following the instructions (i.e. not taking out my electronics, not having the proper size bottle for liquids, etc).
What I gathered from this post is you wear suspenders.Zunardo;1839898 wrote:I don't mind the screening, but I cannot abide the idiocy of how each local facility does things different.

Fab4RunnerTSA sucks and are bad at their jobs. That aside, I got a very thorough pat-down way back in 2010, and it didn't bother me.

I've gone through airports a hundred times in my life, the worst thing that ever happened was they patted me down, and yes, touched my junk. It honestly was not a big deal and I didn't think anything of it. Different strokes for different folks I guess. That stuff doesn't really bother me and I certainly don't see it as a "invasive measure".justincredible;1839895 wrote:What happens when they find out that these new procedures are completely ineffective? justincredibleDifferent strokes, indeed. It's appalling to me that every single air traveler is considered a terrorist until going through the completely ineffective, and yes, invasive, security measures. How we've gotten to the point where people are absolutely okay with government employees touching their private areas in the name of "safety" when it's has been proven time and time again that they don't actually stop bad shit from getting through is beyond me. And apparently we are okay with "rewarding" their failure with more invasive measures.

justincredibleWould you care if you were paying a cleaning crew to clean your house and later found out that not only were they doing a terrible job cleaning they were also going through all of your personal shit? Would you reward them by giving them more money and/or additional cleaning duties?

LOL - and that I have a hard time getting my pants to stay up. They were clip-ons, to boot.like_that;1839901 wrote:

Not exactly the greatest comparison, but I'll play along. I'd fire the cleaning crew. I can't get out of the TSA searches because that is life and I just have to deal with the occasional "check up" when I fly on an airplane.justincredible;1839917 wrote:Would you care if you were paying a cleaning crew to clean your house and later found out that not only were they doing a terrible job cleaning they were also going through all of your personal shit? justincredibleJust because the TSA exists now, or exists in it's current capacity, doesn't mean we just have to accept it as life and deal with it. We can, and should, push back when the government goes too far. This absolutely being one of those occasions, because, again, the TSA is completely ineffective and should not be rewarded with the power to be more aggressive. Because they are going to continue to be ineffective.

There are a couple airports that got rid of TSA and hired their own private security I believe.justincredible;1839922 wrote:Just because the TSA exists now, or exists in it's current capacity, doesn't mean we just have to accept it as life and deal with it. This needs to happen wholesale across the country. Allow the airlines to take care of their own security. My guess is they will care a little more than the TSA does when their reputation is attached to it. And they won't get away with molesting passengers as there will be other options available. As with most things, a freer market will lead to to more innovation and better results.like_that;1839926 wrote:There are a couple airports that got rid of TSA and hired their own private security I believe. -
SportsAndLadyDo you honestly feel "molested" when you go through TSA?
-
justincredibleIn a sense, yes. It doesn't bother me to be patted down by another person, I'm not a modest person. It bothers me that my government treats me like a terrorist before I can get on a plane.

My guess is they would do just as little as possible to make a profit and end up charging all of us just to go through security. It is all about making and saving a buck with them.justincredible;1839931 wrote:This needs to happen wholesale across the country. Allow the airlines to take care of their own security. I'm fine with the TSA as long as it is done right. So far, the success has been mixed, bad. -
