Ignorance allows religion to flourish. Unfortunately, many people are downright ignorant.FatHobbit;1751673 wrote:I'm not saying you don't know anyone who has, but my Facebook feed is littered with memes about how we need god in this or god in that. Many of my family and friends at ultra religious and they do think this country is a christian nation. We have "in god we trust" on our money and pledge allegiance to "one country under God".
It's not an argument I choose to take up with them. It's funny to me how you can spend time with someone and get along with them perfectly in real life and then you see the crap - not just religious posts, but in general - they put on Facebook and wonder who is this person? -

of course it's not very Christian!(so why is it the religion's fault?)... And why do you generalize this failure to follow their religious precepts by SOME people to ALL religious? That is a failure in basic logic.I find it interesting that some of my religious friends think gays/Muslims/Mexicans are going to be the end of this country and we need to do something about them. That doesn't seem very christian like to me at all. -
LuisaChangHas anyone watched the GOP debate last night. How did you like Trump's sense of humor?: thumbup:

welcome to the OC your first post.... Good luck grasshopperLuisaChang;1751767 wrote:Has anyone watched the GOP debate last night. How did you like Trump's sense of humor?: thumbup: -
BoatShoesSo this is surprising. T'would appear the Trump Monster has caused one of the three that I thought could win the whole thing to drop out of the race. And, I say it is part of Trump because his gregariousness sucked out so much oxygen and made Walker look that much more bland.

Personally pretty shocked he dropped out so early! -

sleeperKasich is probably the only one I'd vote for anyway.
-
gutI would have bet Walker could easily have raised enough money to stay in much longer.

He could but there's no chance he was going to win. Why bother wasting time?gut;1752254 wrote:I would have bet Walker could easily have raised enough money to stay in much longer. -
fish82If Trump keeps sucking up the O2, most of these guys are going to start to run into money trouble sooner rather than later.

SportsAndLadyWalker was a loser. His religious nonsense makes him insufferable.
-
SpockWalker was unelectable in the general election due to his anti union BS in Wisky.

BoatShoes
Actually I thought it made him more electable to everyone but teachers and committed Democratic voters.Spock;1752290 wrote:Walker was unelectable in the general election due to his anti union BS in Wisky.
If I am one of these power brokers in the GOP I am pissed off. Sure, maybe you don't think he could win and sure maybe Rick Perry could never recover from his fails last time but you now have officially lost two incredibly accomplished Republican governors - one of them from a blue state having taken the best shot of the dems more than once.
And you still have Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum and Donald Farking Trump running around out there! Dems can complain all they want about strong-arming Bernie and O'Malley but they don't have two very accomplished governors getting outshined and ultimately knocked out by a Reality TV star!
I mean does Walker drop so rapidly if Trump isn't tweeting things like "People in Iowa don't know how TERRIBLE Scott Walker was for Wisconsin! It's a DISASTER!" -
BoatShoes
He didn't really drop the religious stuff too much though - at least lately anyway. Certainly heard about his faith a lot less than I heard about St. Peter and his dad the mail man from John Kasich.SportsAndLady;1752262 wrote:Walker was a loser. His religious nonsense makes him insufferable. -

Yeah he practically had a theocracy set up in Wisconsin.SportsAndLady;1752262 wrote:Walker was a loser. His religious nonsense makes him insufferable. -

It only takes one simple comment to get the anti-religious to wet themselves and go full loon.BoatShoes;1752300 wrote:He didn't really drop the religious stuff too much though - at least lately anyway. Edit. Except for Boat (at least in this instance). -
majorsparkAs for the debate the things I found insufferable were not comments (I can handle those though I may disagree).
Ted Cruz's accent when pronouncing Iran's ayatollah Khomeini.
Donald Trump's protruding his lips and swaying his head while the so called moderators were baiting another candidate into a confrontation with Trump.
Ben Carson when he closes his eyes for a few seconds while talking.
My comments are in jest and as someone who pays close attention to politics I still found it a distraction to the point they were making. Maybe its just me but it made we wonder if someone just "tuning in" would just write off a candidate because of it.
Hats off to Kasich for quickly recognizing the shit show CNN was creating. Culminating with some of the dickless (pun intended) answers to the $10 bill question. I don't care whose image is on that piece of paper. Just tell me how the value that people place on that piece of paper is going to allow me to buy more things, grow my investments, and allow me to give more $10 dollar bills to those that need it more than I. -

The power brokers in the GOP have yet to figure out how pissed off the Republican base really is and rightfully so. The question is will they come to grips with it before they nominate the idiot.BoatShoes;1752299 wrote:If I am one of these power brokers in the GOP I am pissed off. It isn't just tweeting, either. Trump talked like that the entire debate. Hyperbolic vitriol. I don't know how much Trump actually knows about how to run a country, but I do know that there is no candidate on either side who appears to know less. He doesn't answer a single question with substance.BoatShoes;1752299 wrote:I mean does Walker drop so rapidly if Trump isn't tweeting things like "People in Iowa don't know how TERRIBLE Scott Walker was for Wisconsin! TiernanKasich is purposelfully keeping his whack job Christian beliefs under the radar because his handlers know if he gets out there off the leash and starts spouting about prayers in school and baby killing Abortion Clinics he has no chance to glom on as the eventual nominee's running mate which is all he really wants anyway.

TiernanI have no problem calling myself a Kasich Hater. That guy is one twisted little bible thumping prick and 90% of Ohioans don't know it. He's clever and sneaky & only looking out for himself. Do Not trust this shitbag.

Tiernan probably feels the same way about Kasich as I do about Hillary, as I suspect educational funding is as important to him as the second amendment is to me.gut;1752470 wrote:As if Hillary is a better, more trustworthy option. -
HitsRus....LOL, Tiernan a teacher....
