She very interesting canidate need to stay in the game so more people can get to know her better... Plus I think she can kick Hillary ass in a fist fight and a debate.
  • QuakerOats
She would easily expose Clinton as the rich, selfish, power-grabbing, dishonest bitch that she is.
  • Belly35
Belly list how the canidates did last night

    1. Kasich
    2. Rubio
    3. Trump
    4. Fiorina
    5. Walker
    6. Carson
    7. Cruz
    8. Huckabee
    9. Christie

Saw highlights. It seems obvious to me that Kasich is the candidate if you want the best chance to win the general but that is just me.

The establishment is clearly trying to get Trump out but I think he is just going to get more support for the time being.

Trump getting 49% in the Drudge Report poll of who won! Wow!

Jeb has to be losing it. Trump truly is the wild card hat I think could disrupt the standard coalescense around the big money establishment favorite.

    Crazy.

Trump comment "this country is $19 billion in debt, $1 million dollars a minute. You need a business man in the white house" that hit home pretty hard.

Agree with this. It's very clear that the GOP want Trump out and will continue to hammer him until he leaves.

Kasich is the only one I would consider voting for in this entire group; the rest I just don't care for. Again, its really difficult to form an opinion on someone when there are ten candidates up their giving canned answers in their limited time.

I cant wait till there is only 3-4 left....... the right will have a very strong person after this.

I would take Ben Carson/Rubio/Kasich as a VP right now.

I think Kasich came across as a serious candidate/challenger and was the best of the 'governors'. I was not impressed with Trump. I thought Paul was good at some points, and weak at others. Ben Carson treaded water. I liked Rubio. For one reason or the other, Cruz did not resonate with me. Huckabee has the hutzpah to be president, but as someone said earlier, his politics seems outdated.

I'd like to see Fiorina added to the next one.

Well, at least until someone asks him if his plan would be to have the U.S. file for corporate bankruptcy like he has, what, four times.
sleeper;1744927 wrote:It's really a turn off for someone like me.
Yeah. I think it's sort of a stupid plan. Talk up your religion shit while around your loyal following, but quash that in favor of relevant nation-running issues for the big public events. To do otherwise shows a complete ignorance of statistics and trends. The closeness of recent elections seems to illustrate there are a fairly equal number of voters who are primarily democrat or republican (ie: always or usually vote that way), with the rest being more or less independent (or at least non-party line). I don't know if you'd go 35-35-30, 40-40-20, 45-45-10 or whatever to split those groups up, but two things probably should be taken into consideration.

    1. A hardcore republican voter isn't going to turn about and vote for the democratic nominee because their guy didn't meet the quota for Jebus references.

    2. That percentage of independent voters is probably the one you'll need to attract, as they'll be the ones that decide the race. When it comes to those, I'd wager a lot of them are more conservative on a fiscal/safety level (ie: do something about this fucking welfare issue and why are we being overrun by illegals again?) and more liberal on a social level. The more emphasis gets placed on religion and other social-based issues, the more likely they're going to vote D.

I think that's an aspect where Kasich "gets it" with his "I don't personally agree, but the people spoke, so I'll have to adjust my stance" comments about gay marriage. That's a dude smart enough to know where things should be focused and that those social issues are nothing but detrimental to the cause in the long run.

As Gut intimated, Huckabee is a skilled politician but probably does not have enough broad appeal.

Rob Costa I think had a good analysis of Rubio...kind of like Mickey Mantle still being outshine by DiMaggio at this point but maybe he can break out as it sounds to me like RomneyLand wants him to win.

My younger Republican friends like Rubio for obvious reasons. Really sells the "opportunity" message better than anybody else.

From what I saw from "electability" last night it seems like the following has a > 0% chance of beating Clinton:

    1) Jeb Bush - Has the funds
    2) Marco Rubio - His hard stance on abortion will hurt his women vote but doesn't kill him. Had some star power for sure.
    3) Kasich - Late Start but has a lot of potential because he didn't just cater to the hard right or social conservatives. He avoided alienating anyone in LGBT. He seemed very compassionate and human.

I didn't see anyone else who really had a shot. The large applause for Christie saying the government needs to read everyone texts and monitor all phone calls is quite disturbing. I can't believe people cheer for that.

If Jeb Bush is on this list because he "has the funds", then Trump should be on the list as well. Trump has more funds than all of the candidates and their donors combined.

Last night's Republican Debate was so stupid.
I watched. In fact, I watched a decent amount.
I turned it off after about 1 hr 30 min or so.

I thought the moderators were TERRIBLE.
I wanted to reach right thru the TV and strangle all of them.
Especially that Jezebel Megyn Kelly - what a stuck-up little trick that woman is.
Chris Wallace was nothing more than a weasel,
and Bret Baier looked like he was experimenting w/ transitioning (did you see the lipstick?).
I wanted to punch all 3 of those jokers right in the face.

I thought the questions were ridiculously pointed.
While I thought Donald Trumps answers were great,
it was painfully obvious that he was only up their for comedic entertainment value / to increase viewership.
It's clear as day that Donald Trump running for the Republican Nomination is nothing more than a publicity stunt for both him and the Republican Convention.
While I'm all for closing the borders and protecting this country from illegal immigrants, I think all this talk about "building an actual wall" is buffoonery.
Have you seen these Mexican drug cartel tunnels?!
You honestly mean to tell me that you don't think these guys will just build tunnels underneath any BILLION (sh!t, perhaps TRILLION) dollar wall we put up?!
What a waste of government funds THAT would be.
And besides... IF they can't build underneath, then they'll just fly over and parachute illegals across the borders.
No matter how hard we try, they're going to get in - but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try / do anything about it... I just think we have to be SMARTER about it than "building a giant wall".

I thought Rand Paul was HORRIBLY obnoxious.
He kept blurting out and butting in, even when the questions weren't directed towards him.
He looked like a curly haired Martin Short.
I don't want a short, little man as our President - what kind of message does that send to the world?

Chris Christie looked like more of cartoon character than a potential presidential nominee.

The guy who I actually came away MOST impressed with was - wait for it - John Kasich!
I know it might sound like a "homer pick" since he's Ohio Governor, but I honestly thought Kasich sounded educated, in control, and looked like a potential Leader.
I thought the best line of the night was when Kasich pointed out that Trump is "hitting a nerve in this country."
I thought that was a very sharp response, mostly because I think it's TRUE!
I think he allure to Trump is that he says what most people feel/fear,
but his problem is that he does so in a non-president-like way.
There's no tact or guile with Trump... and thus you're left believing that everything Trump says/does is simply to grab headlines.
But Kasich was right... "People are frustrated, they're fed up," as Kasich said.
    He's right! We are!

    Jeb Bush.
I don't even know where to start.
I can't look at the guy w/o seeing his Father and Brother.
If Will Ferrell was still with SNL, I'd vote for Jeb just for the priceless shorts we'd have on SNL.
Jeb looks like a spittin image of Will.
I do truly believe George W got us into this mess (Obama just made it worse), so rightly or wrongly I more than likely would be hesitant to vote for another Bush.

Believe it or not, aside from Kasich, the guy who I might have been most impressed with was Ben Carson.
I thought he came off as very knowledgeable and educated.
My biggest fear with Carson, however, is does he have the political experience necessary to run a country?
While being a neurosurgeon proves you're extremely smart, it also proves you haven't spent much time in the way of dealing with political matters.

The guy I wish we heard more form was Scott Walker.
I thought he was noticeably quieter than the other candidates,
and I really couldn't develop a feel for if I liked him or not.

    I'm absolutely torn.
There's a 95% chance I'll vote for whoever the Republican candidate is this next election, solely because of 2 reasons:
    1) Because I believe Obama has done a terrible job and I don't want to hand the baton to a Democrat after the job he's done.
    2) I don't trust Hilary Clinton to run this country.

I just wish there was a better Republican candidate/nominee.
I feel like all they had to do this election was throw out a 1/2-way decent candidate, and it would have been a slamdunk.
But I just keep finding myself not that crazy about any of candidates they're throwing out there.

Last comment... I know I used the word "stupid" a couple times in this post myself, but I thought it was VERY lowly of these "respected" presidential candidates to CONTINUE FREQUENTLY using the words "stupid" and (I'm now forgetting the other word they used) FREQUENTLY during their speeches. I'm sorry, but if you want to come off as educated, respected, and professional... choose a different word than "stupid" and referring to our current politicians as dumb. Enough with the smear campaigns; talk yourself up and talk about what YOU hope to do.
