    The next person that brings up this kind of crap I am just going to point to Condoleezza Rice, Allen West, even Colin Powell as other African American's that I would have loved or still would love to see POTUS.

    Gosh a ruddies to paraphrase “the gentlemen doth protest too much, methinks,” an unintentional apophasis by you, jmog. I did not say all opponents of Lincoln or Obama were virulent racists. But it is true that the most virulent white racists of the time hated each of these Presidents from the Civil War era copperheads to large portion of the membership of the present day tea party. And chief don’t bet on Rush supporting Condalezza Rice.

    I don't know what most people where thinking other than they got boondoggled by the left wing media into the "We are the 99%" BS and that "Romney is in the 1%!" while conveniently forgetting that Obama is in the 1% as well and hasn't done jack crap for the poor to this point in his Presidency (look at the growing number of people in poverty...yeah, he's really helping).
    Nobody has ever accused the democrats of being poor campaigners. Unfortunately that's the only thing they are good at. They find every emotional issue possible and press those buttons hard. 90% of the libtards in this country can't think logically, so they fap to that shit. Hopefully our country grows up by nov 14' and 16' and realizes they can't live in their pretend little delusional world.

    I doubt anything of real importance would change that much regardless of what side's in control of anything, though. I think that in today's era where you have 5 million bloggers and everyone has access to so much more information and everyone can find a public place to put their opinion, there's so much scrutiny on anyone in a position of political power that didn't used to be there.

    And when you add in all the divisiveness and "the other side is the enemy" politard rhetoric, I think it gets to the point where the people who'd be most qualified to actually do good in those positions wouldn't be as interested in dealing with the shit than the publicity whores and idiots that get the most attention. Regardless of what side you're on, odds are the guy you're backing is someone who figures it might as well be them getting all the air time and attention, regardless of how well-equipped they actually are to run anything.

    Which is why Obama is in office and the Tea Party has more influence than the average group of loud idiots.

    There's A LOT to be said for that. Not to mention needing to be relatively "squeaky clean", which is going to be even more rare 15-20 years from now as the Facebook/Twitter generation comes of age.

    I actually think the Bush family, like the Kennedy's, feels a genuine sense of duty to serve. Just that the Bush's aren't particularly talented.

    I have a real problem with career lawyers, I mean politicians, with talent mostly for giving speeches using public office to grow rich and powerful. As far as I can tell, the only thing "experience" really does for anyone in Congress is to enable them to excel in the art of cronyism.

    The other huge issue is that as the govt continues to grow and grow, the real power and knowledge is embedded in career staffers...non-elected career staffers...And if we grant that Obama isn't as totally incompetent as he appears, then the real lesson is these staffers are nearly unmanageable. Which means we no longer have control of our govt and we're just electing politicians to give us the occasional speech about what is happening.

    Just think about this for a minute...GM at one point had like 350,000 workers, and simply became too large to manage. Today the entire auto industry in the US comprises some 800k employees, which is the size of the DoD CIVILIAN branch alone. Only in govt could someone who's never managed more than a few dozen employees be put in charge of nearly 3M. Such a person becoming CEO of a Fortune 500 is unheard of.

    I enjoyed the first episode and looking forward to the next.

    I heard all the theories before about why he left and after the first episode it seems like he's just a huge dumbass. I'm interested to see if they dig deeper regarding the "leadership" issues.

    My favorite out of all this is Obama paraded this guy around as it was a victory and the Army is pretty much throwing a giant middle finger by still putting him thru a court martial.

    Which is stupid in its own right. Even if you take all the real and/or perceived shadiness about the dude out of the equation, I'm not sure that I'd be claiming "brought one of our boys back home...at the expense of giving them multiple high-ranking operatives back..." as much of an achievement.

    Just finished the 2nd episode of Serial. I'm hooked.

    The more I think about it, the more I agree with what was said previously....he could get put away. I had no idea how large the (failed) effort was to find in him Afghanistan....when he wasn't even fucking there. It's insane.
