I get this. What you are missing is are we a nation governed by the rule of law? Or should they just be selectively ignored in a difficult case like this? The law is clear. If the law sucks change it. Don't circumvent it.ptown_trojans_1;1487134 wrote:The current situation sucks, as the Army acted recklessly and pretty much played right into the Brotherhood's hand.
I'll just add what are the options for the U.S.?
Honestly, what is a good option?
Should the U.S. wash their hands, leading to potentially more chaos in the region?
Or, should the U.S. try and work with the new Government like it is trying to do.
Transitions and new Governments are messy. Remember it took us years. -

I am no fan of the Brotherhood but they were not shooting their fellow citizens protesting their government down in the street. Also the Brotherhood over the last year had been playing ball with the US government and did not void the Israeli peace treaty when they took power.ptown_trojans_1;1487134 wrote:And what if that pulls them away further from the U.S. and into a pro-Brotherhood Government?
Many nations peacefully coexist without a peace treaty. All peace treaties will be broken. Its a piece of paper. The balance of power and price in blood and treasure is what actually keeps nations from tearing each others throats out.ptown_trojans_1;1487134 wrote:And, what if it leads them to void the Israeli peace treaty? -
TiernanIf you don't believe the Moozlums want Americans dead then you are naive and destined to see tragedy.

One thing is quite clear - and I mean this with all sincerity - whenever the Feds intervene in any situation (foreign or domestic) there's an EXCELLENT chance that they will make things worse.
We already helped create the Middle East Monster. What makes you believe more Mericun meddling will fix it? -

believerWhat we need is a John Quincy Adams, Henry Kissinger, or a George C. Marshall leading the way. Certainly not a Hillary Benghazi Clinton or a John Fonda Kerry at the helm.

Do you really not understand that whenever we pick a side, they like us for exactly long enough to get what they want, and then start burning the stars and stripes? Do you really think we can pick a side that will lead to stability? You're D.C. delusional.ptown_trojans_1;1487134 wrote:And what if that pulls them away further from the U.S. and into a pro-Brotherhood Government? Naw Belly. That makes too much fucking sense. But our country is chock full of tree-hugging "progressive" pussies who don't have a clue that THEY are part of the problem.Belly35;1487597 wrote:Want a solution

Still a rather myopic view. Even if the US were energy independent, the idea that middle east oil still wouldn't be a major factor in the global economy and to global stability is simply naive.Belly35;1487597 wrote:Want a solution
