Disgusted with obama administration - Part II

Dr Winston O'Boogie
We have a progressive tax system. It replaced a flat tax and was brought into law by Abraham Lincoln. It makes taxes somewhat proportional to the amount of wealth a group controls. So if the top 1% of the population of the US controls 43% of the country's wealth, them paying 35-40% of the income taxes is actually less (on a proportional basis) to what they have.Belly35;1697875 wrote:Tell me again why those who are of wealthier status should pay more taxes?
If we all are equal as citizen, under the same laws, rights should we not all pay the same percentage rate of taxes no matter what the income, wealth, prosperity, race, creed, ethic, gender of that citizen.
Help me out here. Where does it read in the Constitution of the America that there is a separation between the rich and poor and the separation of taxes between groups within America?
The constitution doesn't say anything about how the system of taxes should be administered. It doesn't say how congressional districts should be set up or how the Air Force should be run either. -

Nothing Marxist about this proposal at all; that is of course unless borrowing elements of Dave Camp's recent Tax Proposal, Mike Lee's recent tax proposal and the Capital Gains Rates from Ronald Reagan's Tax Reform Act of 1986 are marxist.QuakerOats;1697473 wrote:http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2015-01-18/obama-tries-tax-cuts-on-rich-again-offset-by-new-breaks.html
but, he's not a marxist ..............

Yes. Obummer is going to fark it all up with capital gains rates back at the level advocated by Ronald Reagan in the Tax Reform act of 1986. Oh yeah and that's right, Obama, despite his stellar pick of Janet Yellen...had nothing to do with "things getting back to normal."HitsRus;1697914 wrote:It's taken 6 years to get back to normal and he wants to f*** with it. BoatShoesObummer's approval ratings are back at 50%; higher than Ronald Reagan's 48% in the third January of his second term and much higher than W's 36% rating.
We're in for a miserable two years as nothing will get done between he and a Republican Congress. But, supposing that the Federal Reserve does not fall asleep at the wheel (and Obama is not helping matters with his recent dolt of a nominee meant to accommodate Democrats who have some weird obsession with "community banking") my guess is he will be approaching Clinton-level approval ratings by the end.
Nevertheless the Conservative Bubble will still be declaring him a failed President and they even hate him when he wants to reduce the tax burden of middle America.
Don't really think Obama's Success or Failure will give much indication as to whether or not the Dems or Pubs take the presidency in 2016 though.
The question will be: Can the GOP find another W. that can bring the Establishment and Conservative wings together; while appealing to average-independents enough to carry them to victory in 2016? I personally think only Scott Walker (or maybe John Kasich...but is kind of getting trashed in talk radio circles for being too moderate, etc.) can do it. He has taken everything the Democrats have thrown at him; in a relatively blue state for that matter. But I don't think he will get the nomination. -

The thing is taxes on income are taxes on the accumulation of wealth. Not everyone falling into the higher income bracket in a given year holds the wealth of the dreaded evil 1%. That said from what I see of Obama's proposal it is targeted to hit income generation on higher percentages of "wealthy" people and the use of their wealth. Its still a big net that is going to catch a whole lot more than the 1%. But I will bet that the vast number of American voters think its solely putting the screws to the evil 1%.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1697885 wrote:We have a progressive tax system. If you really want to catch the 1% that control 43% of the wealth propose taxing "wealth" or net worth progressive tax. Good luck. -

Reagan was forced to govern to the left of his ideology and Obama is forced to the right of his. American presidents have not yet become dictators. So far they at best can only move the needle a little to the right or left. Unless you are a leg humper your tactic does not hold water. If you are a leg humper you just keep on humping.........BoatShoes;1697957 wrote:Yes. Just admit it, obama would like nothing more than to literally take/steal/abscond with at least half of the wealth of this so-called 1%, and redistribute it as he see fit ----- period. What does that make him? -

How about the word "I"? You would have alcohol poisoning in the first hour! -

I don't see the apples to oranges. Proportional to the amount of wealth they control, the top 1% pays less in taxes. Your second sentence is really at the heart of the matter. If you want to see him and the world through your own lenses, then he/ the world are whatever you want to call him. It's like someone calling someone Hitler when then don't like what they've done. It attention grabbing but doesn't really mean anything.QuakerOats;1698227 wrote:, when you mix apples and oranges.

HitsRusI'm tired of him screwing with the tax code. People and business need certainty before they'll invest their money and taxes always are a key item. He already got his tax code change in his first term, and this round, which has no chance of passing is nothing more than a shameless attempt to buy votes and play the poor against the rich. All taxes are bourne directly or indirectly by the middle class, to which he is no friend. Obummercare is a direct TAX , so ruled by the SCOTUS, and it is shouldered by the middle class. Shame on him.
