ptown_trojans_1Good to know we are back in the times of the 19th century where violence is acceptable.
What next, a Senator clubbing another one in the head with a cane?
Or, can someone knock the shit out of Hannity now? Is that allowed? -

Frankly, political throwdowns would probably be equally entertaining and less sad when compared to the current state of affairs.ptown_trojans_1;1855082 wrote:Good to know we are back in the times of the 19th century where violence is acceptable.

queencitybuckeyeHow interesting that a political nobody knocks down a journalistic nobody and the media is all over it, but the former chair of the DNC threatens a chief of police for not returning a computer of an IT staffer that's evidence in a criminal case, crickets.

QuakerOatsI think the media guy brought it on himself.
There are a lot more of them that need their ass kicked too. Of course, there are a shitload of politicians and bureaucrats who need their ass kicked as well. -

That's true. Quite audacious of him to ask a guy running for public offense a question related to policies that he'd, in theory, have to opine upon in an official role.QuakerOats;1855095 wrote:I think the media guy brought it on himself.

LOL. Big surprise that you're fine with physically assaulting someone who was simply doing his job. After all, sexual assault is A-OK, too.QuakerOats;1855095 wrote:I think the media guy brought it on himself.

ptown_trojans_1Yeah, violence is cool. Manners and civility be damned.

Good to know I can now go to a town hall and take down my Congressman if they are not answering my question.

This would be awesome.ptown_trojans_1;1855100 wrote:Can we go back to duels why we are at it?
Joking aside does any video of this exist. I have seen reporters at times very aggressively shove shit in people faces while asking questions. I am guessing that "body slamming" is probably not quite an accurate description of what a 56 year old man did to this journalist. -

There is audio, and it completely contradicts the statement that Gianforte's campaign released. So not only did he assault someone, he then tried to lie about it.majorspark;1855101 wrote:This would be awesome.

There were Fox News reporters in the room who backed up Ben Jacobs' story.
In an article published Wednesday night, Fox News reporter Alicia Acuna wrote that Gianforte punched Jacobs after pulling him down.
“Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him,” Acuna wrote. “At no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte.” -
CenterBHSFanI first heard this around 6am when I was getting ready for work. From what the news said, the reporter shoved a voice recorder into the guy's face, wouldn't take it away after being told to ask him later or to ask "Shane" (who I guess was his publicist or some such), continued asking the question and wouldn't step away. That's when things got ugly.
My thoughts:
1.) That guy obviously has lost the seat he was working for. Rightfully so. A person who is asking for a seat of power needs to show some sort of refinement, self-control and steadiness of mind. This guy couldn't do it and lost control of himself. I wouldn't want somebody like that taking part in controlling matters for me. It wouldn't have bothered me if he told the reporter to "back the fuck off" and be crude. That wouldn't bother me in the way that physically attacking the reporter does.
2.) This reporter, and all others like him, need to take the time and present themselves in a professional manner. They do not have the automatic right to act like paparazzi thugs just because they want a good scoop. I realize that the press are often in a jam for time and space and because of that... are often unable to get the direct quotes that they would like. However, they should still have a professional bearing about themselves that commands respect and gives respect to the potential interviewee.
This reporter, Jacobs, doesn't lend his profession any credit. -

sleeperNo surprise the GOP/Fox News contingent is defending assault.
The GOP continues to support sexual and physical assault through their representatives. Amazing. -

Except the audio was edited, and the Fox reporter recanted her story today.
Jacobs grabbed Gianforte's wrist and ultimately it resulted in both hitting the deck. I think once you touch someone, either grabbing them or pushing your mic into them, then you can probably expect push back, -
QuakerOatsMeanwhile, cops are being shot and killed, and the left-wing media is completely silent.
