  Of course, the irony is that this has ALWAYS been the case...most of the people without health insurance could afford it, they just chose not to...And so we have a classic example of govt coming up with a horribly ineffective "solution", and screwing up so badly as to break something else in the process.

  The distinction, as I see it, is that there were plenty of people who have been able to afford both up until now, so "choosing" wasn't necessary.

  Absolutely. There were plenty of both - most could afford it, but chose not to...and others could have afforded it but chose cable and cell phones. And that's an entirely rational choice - if you have little to lose in bankruptcy and are healthy, then insurance doesn't offer any real utility to you.

  He may be right in a clinical sense, but the difference between cable & cell phone bills vs. Obamacare is that I am free to choose whether or not to purchase cable & cell phone service. Obamacare is gubmint MANDATED. Huge difference.

  Barry lectures us on freeing up dough on how to afford BarryKare while he is exempt from him own law. Isn't he due for another taxpayer-funded vacation?

  Not to give the progressives any ideas, but what if 'we' decided that no American should go hungry, so every one would have to purchase a government approved food plan....Mayor Bloomerg could decide what healthy food would be okay for you to purchase...... Of course you could afford it! Since you don't have cable (because of your mandated health insurance) you don't need that flat screen TV or your x-Box either.
