Its Gorrell. You threw me off. I've heard of him. I not that familiar with the names of political cartoonists. I guess I am just lazy and just look at the pictures don't pay a lot attention to the scribbles in the corner.

I was curious and did a little search. I think your opinion of his work is a little clouded by your offense to "right" wing political ideology. You probably view him as the "Quakeroats" of political cartoonists. I am as shocked as you that ones political ideology might just be reflected in their crude and abstract political drawings. But seriously he is a political cartoonist. Right, left, center all occasionally depict a small nugget of truth in their crude artwork.

That one isn't as obvious, but perhaps even less funny. He illustrated one of the most overplayed stereotypes out there - how edgy!

No originality whatsoever in either of those. He's taking the criticisms of the day and offering a fairly literal illustration with poor artwork.

I've never liked this depiction of Bugs Bunny either.

I had to scroll thru a dozen of his cartoons to find one that provoked a "ha" (not "ha-ha", just a "ha")

I don't give two shits about this Gorelll dude. But I feel the need to post a cartoon or meme to keep the thread on track.

Perhaps he did not make Obama's ears big enough and darken the skin a little more. Seriously though, like any capitalist he is banking cash. Whether you or I hump the quality of his cartoons is irrelevant. Enough people are buying his product. I may think the retarded sculpture that looks like trash welded together is poor artwork. But if a person is willing to pay thousands of $'s for it.... Maybe its not as poor as I think.

Look at the difference in the two pics. Same ears, but a white guy with that chin looks a lot more like Kerry

Lol, I have no issue with right-wing ideology, regardless of whether I agree with it. I tend to think that most decisions that are made are done with the intent to improve things...but sometimes it ends up the road to hell being paved with good intentions. I've seen both sides have good ideas and ones that turn out mindbogglingly stupid, like so far this whole Syria debacle. The issue I have is with what, to me, comes off as blind devotion where rational thought and conversation is replaced with LOUD NOISES. That's why I tend to mock Quaker, because in anything resembling what could be a potential intelligent political conversation, he jumps in to throw out wild conspiracy claims and tabloid-style headlines like there's no tomorrow.

My problem with Gorrell is simply that he sucks as far as actual satire goes. If you're putting your views into the form of a cartoon, you should have quality satire/wit or you're a hack. I've seen a lot of his cartoons (work at a weekly newspaper, which for some reason ran a national poli cartoon and I got to pick between his stuff a good number of weeks...so, like I said, I'm very familiar with him and that's probably why I noticed his name) and he's a hack.

Now this one has some merit. Made me at least chuckle a bit. Kind of like this one. Which also gives me my pic for the post.

Oh, and while I agree that his stuff must have some value since it is getting bought, I still subscribe to the notion that if I think it's dumb, I'll mock it mercilessly. Might make a bit of a jerk, but I've known that for years.

Maybe you are right and as you say Obama is in always in campaign mode. Actually Kerry made a much more stern and compelling speech for military action than Obama. One I could actually get behind if done right. Come to think of it maybe Kerry really is the guy drawing the red line. A war veteran its perfect. If things get shitty Obama can lurk in the fog and Kerry boxed us in with his speech.
