Ehhhh....Sounds good but as Baron Actons said, "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

Don't fool yourself into believing Libertarians are immune from being as stupid as Repubs and Dems.

Never liked that quote. Baron Actons must not have been familiar with the numerous monarchs who were fair and just to their people throughout history. Granted, they were in the minority, but they did exist.

And there are plenty of stupid Libertarians already. Difference is that the concept of leaving people alone is baked right into the identity of Libertarianism. When something ceases to be freedom-supporting, it ventures further away from Libertarianism itself.

And just so I don't get the "memes" whining again:

This is somewhat true, though the title "Libertarian" is rather contemporary. Some of the early presidents would have been somewhat closer to it than we've had as of recently. Jefferson seems to have been, in many ways, "liberty-leaning."

Authoritarianism has been around for millenia. Monarchs were technically authoritarian in principle, though occasionally they functioned in a relatively absent capacity, appearing more like liberty-leaning.

But as a rule, it will be more difficult for someone to seize control in order for everyone to be left alone than it will be for someone to seize control in order to impose himself on the populous.

Meh ... I'm not sure that throwing the first pitch, even in New York at the time, is the best indicator of whether or not a president's allegiances are with the US.

Perfect ... We can't say that today nor will the future history of America verify this Community Oragnizer as a learder.
