I contact people all over the country daily and locally I talk to business owns all the time. Obama Administration has created a lack of “confidence” in the small business world. Everyone is on a holding pattern, no confidence in Obama, Obamacare, Foreign and Domestic Agenda and the handling of the Economy. Remind yourself that many businesses presently are one job away from closing and five jobs from potential hiring. However before the business will take additional steps to hire, build and invest in their companies they have to have the “confidence” and “direction” of other business that also see prosperity potential.
When Romney takes office …. (depending on what damage Obama does during the lame duck period with directing Executive orders) it will require 8-9 months before any sign of improvements can be measured. Why: to take a term “Shove Ready”. Before any shove ready or production ready can begin preparation has to be preformed, hires trained, materials made, product scheduling justified and much more. Businesses are down to bare bone operations presently, to gearing up is not a simple or quick task. America Business will prosper and grow once "confidence is restored" -
gutI agree with all that, and particularly the lack of confidence and certainty. But reality is also that there are signs of a coming global recession already. And that's bigger than Obama beating down American business.
It's going to be extremey difficult if we do see a global recession, because the Central Banks have no bullets left. And unemployment is still abysmal, so there's absolutely no cushion there, either. It's a potentially herculean task that Romney is probably not up to and, to quote Clinton "no one is". But 4 more years of Obama in that scenario is simply beyond frightening.
Now it's quite possible, given the circumstances, that the only thing anyone can do is print money and spend as we see another 50-100% increase in unemployment. There will be more Greece, Italy and Spain's. And this will continue until...eventually the global monetary system will collapse. Keep in mind the Global Depression was a driving force in collapse of the gold standard. There's really no reason to think a fiat money system is somehow immune from the same abuses and frictions/inefficiences (albeit perhaps different in form, not function).
Perhaps that is capitalism's way of redistributing wealth when it becomes too concentrated. The other scenario I see if the developed countries can't figure out how to adjust/adapt to global deflation we will see a dramatic shift toward protectionism. At least in the US, if we can find the energy resources we are capable of being virtually self-sufficient and largely insulate ourselves from a global reset. I'm all for free trade and capitalism, but there is no long-run if you can't survive the transition costs. From my perspective, resouces are not keeping pace with the [global] supply of labor, which leads to a disconnect in that growth is insufficient to absorb the increased labor supply. -

Come 2014 mid terms Democrats will make huge gains in the House because the economy won't be fixed by then, just like it wasn't in 2010.
The fiscal cliff will be painful, but just wait for the hostage taking that will occur when Romney (should he win) looks to raise the debt ceiling in the first few months next year.
He will learn quite quickly how boxed in he is going to be when we see a repeat of what happened last time we tried to raise the limit.
A Romney presidency is literally dead on arrival if the Democrats hold the Senate. Just as the Republicans did with Obama (Mitch Mcconnells comment about the #1 priority making Obama a 1 term president) , Harry Reid will make it his personal mission to break Romney, and give him nothing he wants. The House will pass a shit load of bills, and they will all die in the Senate.
That is the new American politics. -

Harry Reid is a major problem. Although, you can't very well label the Tea Party terrorists and then turn around and do the same thing. Then there's the fact that, aside from Reid controlling the agenda, you don't need to flip a ton of votes to move things. That's the way it's always been done. This is hardly the first-time we have had gridlock and partisanship in the Congress. Presidents who are real leaders have been able to get things done. If Romney fails in that regard, he will and should be a 1-term president as well. -

I'm well aware of that. Reid's "partisanship" with Obama could also be argued. Don't fully understand that relationship and who is to blame, but they are hardly on the same page consistently.
I might also dispute Reid's claim that Dems will stand with him in the Senate. Plenty are running against the Obama agenda and are actually supporting some of Romney's platform. How they will vote is the question. But there's opportunity there. If not, Romney and the Repub House will have to call them out. Romney may have to compromise (something Obama and the Repubs have not done) some of his agenda and wait-out a change of control in 2014. -

Every time I said that the response was, "I can't tell you how many times I have heard that"........week after week, month after month, year after year.

It's not just happening with small businesses. I'm in management of a relatively large company and our management team is in the same boat. With a stagnant economy we are not planning to do much capital investment at the moment and little if any hiring.TedSheckler;1310692 wrote:As you should. Is Obama personally to blame for this? No but his clearly anti-business rhetoric, Obamacare, etc. have all contributed to the skittishness.
Will Romney fix the mess? I doubt it but I have a hunch Mittster has a much better understanding of the fact that the presidency has the ability to lead by example. Reagan, for example, was a master at it. Obama has demonstrated to be exactly the opposite.

I have been on the phone to many of my business friends all over the county and the layoff are beginning and in 2 months more with 29 hour work for many.
Here a beginning list as of Monday layoff or fired employees

Will not give their name now but 3 Machine shop and 2 Tool Die Company will be cutting 20 jobs total in Canton
Army buddy in St Louis own a company he will be cut 4 people this week and 29 hour starting in January
