They call it the Left Coast for good reason.HitsRus;1288383 wrote:If there is a state that is the poster child of dependence on government... Cali is it.
I have a new boss here in Tennessee who just transferred from California. He hated California for the idiots and high taxes. Dude's an ex-linebacker who played for Northwestern when Mike Adamle was there. I like him! lol -
ptown_trojans_1Yes, Cal is a majority of lefties, but it is also home to some pretty right wings pockets. I was in Orange County last week, which is the home to many libertarians, and very conservative parties.
I saw more Romney than Obama signs while I was there in the Newport Beach, Santa Ana area.
My buddy is very very libertarian, and from the OC.
LA, and the Nor Cal are left, but Orange County down to San Diego, and central Cal are more right than left.
Like many things, it is more complex than just saying oh, it's left country. -

As a whole California is heavily leftist. Period.ptown_trojans_1;1288400 wrote:Yes, Cal is a majority of lefties, but it is also home to some pretty right wings pockets. I was in Orange County last week, which is the home to many libertarians, and very conservative parties.

Yes, it is left, but remember Reagan came from there. And Arnold, an R, won there.believer;1288401 wrote:As a whole California is heavily leftist. Period.
It is not totally left. -

Reagan certainly came from California which is the only reason he was able to carry the state. Generally Repub POTUS candidates don't have a prayer of carrying California.ptown_trojans_1;1288402 wrote:Yes, it is left, but remember Reagan came from there. And Arnold, an R, won there.

Regarding Arnold - LMAO - yeah he had an "R" moniker but he was easily the most liberal Repub I've ever seen. -
jhay78George HW Bush was the last Repub to carry California in '88. As long as the welfare state and open borders/amnesty are the rule there, then no Republican will win there for another 50 years.
Now if their system collapses (and they don't get bailed out by Uncle Sam) and they indeed reap what they've sown, who knows, maybe a conservative message will resonate. -

B) "with", not "for"...try reading it both ways.

Oh for crying out loud, do you really think they were going to say "the new POTUS is in over his head, and is a distraction". The biggest knock on Obama in 2008 was that he was clueless about economics and business, and we've seen that proven out over 4 years.ptown_trojans_1;1288245 wrote:Not sure I'd use lightweight. Paulson, his staff, and Bernanke all said Obama had a solid grasp of the gravity of the situation. And he was asking the right questions as to impact on the economy and possible solutions.
Again, that doesn't fit your narrative or the rights, so it is forgotten or dismissed. That was a largely complex time that does not fit in the typical party line, sound bite box. -

I recall a lot of us were saying the same thing about BHO 4 years ago....no real experience, no serious vetting by the press, a total media darling, etc.gut;1288505 wrote:Oh for crying out loud, do you really think they were going to say "the new POTUS is in over his head, and is a distraction". Seems we were right then and even after 4 years we're certainly right now. -

I certainly wasn't upset he got elected. I really didn't want to vote for McCain, but Obama's far-left leanings and economic ignorance simply prevented me from voting for him. I was really just hoping I was wrong about that - I mean, EVERYONE wanted better than what we got the past 4 years (no one really wished for what we got, certainly).believer;1288555 wrote:I recall a lot of us were saying the same thing about BHO 4 years ago....no real experience, no serious vetting by the press, a total media darling, etc.

Obama, to this day, is full of inspirational words/speech (but much less so than 2008) and short on action, bereft of leadership. -

I honestly think Obama is in "take it or leave it" mode. He's probably hoping he'll lose so he can concentrate on building his library, writing books, and getting paid big bucks on speaking engagements. After all, with the assistance of a teleprompter, he's in his niche at the podium.gut;1288583 wrote:Obama, to this day, is full of inspirational words/speech (but much less so than 2008) and short on action, bereft of leadership.
Plus Michelle is anxious to spend Barry's riches without the pressure of pretending to love America. -
isadoregosh a ruddies when mitt loses he can return to his favorite pastime, firing people. And Ann can return to concentrating her time on America's no. 1 sport, dressage.

Ty WebbThis poll could be potentially devastating for Romney in Virginia if you look at the details of the poll
The only reason the race in Virginia is close is because Romney has a pretty decent lead among seniors
Also....Gary Johnson is polling at 4 percent in Virginia and 10 percent in Ohio...both of which could cause problems for Romney
In the Virginia poll....13 percent of voters who stated they consider themselves "very conservative" are going to vote for President Obama
Rassmussen's swing state tracker has President Obama up 2 -

The best thing for Obama is to lose, he already has his followers that will buy anything he's ready to sell (shocking as it is) and there is little hope that the economy is going to turn around in the short-term. If he wins he has to deal with four more years of a real job and real economic hardship, and likely going down as the worst President in modern history.believer;1289287 wrote:I honestly think Obama is in "take it or leave it" mode. QuakerOatsDream on, Ty.
Huge swing to Romney among independants (which is where elections are won).
Romney in a landslide.

Do you have to post the same thing on multiple threads?
NO way this election ends in a landslide for EITHER candidate -
QuakerOatsYes. For instance, I just posted the following on another thread:
